What AI does ServiceTitan offer, and is it enough?

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: ServiceTitan, field service software for home and commercial trades, sells its AI as an assistant called Atlas, an AI Virtual Agent that answers and books phone calls, and Pro add-ons for call handling (Contact Center Pro), field techs (Field Pro) and automated dispatch (Dispatch Pro). It covers calls, technician help and dispatch inside the platform. It is probably enough if you already live in ServiceTitan and the phone is your biggest leak. It is not enough on its own for quote follow-up, review replies or reports on questions the platform does not ask, so you add those outside.

You run on ServiceTitan or are about to buy it, and you want to know which AI tools are really listed, which ones cost extra, and what is still missing.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

If you want to know where AI would pay off in your own shop before you buy more add-ons, the AI Strategy Sprint finds it in 3 days.

What AI does ServiceTitan list?

ServiceTitan calls itself AI software for commercial and residential trades. In plain terms, it has four pieces of AI you can name:

  • Atlas: a chat assistant that answers questions using the data already in your ServiceTitan account.
  • AI Virtual Agent: an AI voice agent, meaning software that answers the phone, talks to the caller and books the job.
  • Pro products with AI inside: Contact Center Pro (calls), Field Pro (technicians), Dispatch Pro (assigning jobs).
  • Titan Intelligence: the name ServiceTitan gives to the data models behind features such as Dispatch Pro.

Pro products are add-ons sold on top of the core packages (Starter, Essentials, The Works), and the pricing page sends you to request a quote. For how the core plans are priced, see my ServiceTitan pricing guide.

What is Atlas, the ServiceTitan AI assistant?

Atlas is described as an AI sidekick. In the field, ServiceTitan says it lets a technician ask for facts from equipment manuals, spec sheets and installation guides, with answers that cite where they came from, so the tech does not call the manufacturer or read hundreds of pages. It also helps diagnose problems and brings up calculators such as airflow, subcooling and superheat, and duct sizing. ServiceTitan marks the equipment information and troubleshooting as part of Field Pro.

In the office, ServiceTitan lists Atlas as "coming soon": surfacing missed opportunities, suggesting marketing campaigns, walking dispatchers through capacity rules, helping CSRs (customer service reps) with answers, and reviewing invoices for accounts receivable. Today it already pulls data from ServiceTitan in a chat, such as customer and equipment history. Ask in the demo which of these are live for your plan on the day you sign.

What does the ServiceTitan AI voice agent do?

The AI Virtual Agent greets callers, collects their details and books jobs straight to the dispatch board. ServiceTitan lists these abilities:

  • Book jobs by job type, location and the skills needed, using the platform's capacity rules.
  • Confirm and reschedule existing appointments.
  • Greet members differently and book recurring maintenance on the member's profile.
  • Say your dispatch-fee wording the way you set it.
  • Pass the call to a live person when needed.
  • Save transcripts, summaries and a call type for each call.

ServiceTitan says it works with Contact Center Pro or any phone system and takes about 20 minutes to set up. Those are vendor claims. One customer quoted on its page reports a booking rate of 80% to 85% and calls under 5 minutes. Treat those as one operator's numbers, not a promise. For the wider picture of voice agents, including cheaper ones that do not need a ServiceTitan contract, read what an AI voice agent is and AI answering for contractors.

What do Contact Center Pro, Field Pro and Dispatch Pro add?

ProductWhat it isAI parts it lists
Contact Center ProA call center inbox inside ServiceTitan, across several locationsAI call summaries, sentiment analysis, Second Chance Leads (calls that did not convert), AI Virtual Agents for overflow and after-hours
Field Pro (formerly Sales Pro)Tools for techs and sales repsAI pre-job audio briefs, call recording on arrival with consent, AI troubleshooting, equipment info, scorecards
Dispatch ProAutomated job assignmentJob assignment suggestions, full automation, routing by drive time and skill, a job value predictor

The vendor results on these pages are for select customers. ServiceTitan says Dispatch Pro customers saw 2X dispatcher efficiency and a 6% drop in drive time, and one customer reports 60% fewer missed calls on Contact Center Pro. They are real claims from the vendor, with its own wording that results vary. Do not put them in your budget.

What could this look like in a real shop?

Made-up figures, to show the math. A 12-technician HVAC shop misses 12 calls a week after hours. The owner thinks 4 in 10 of those callers would have booked, at an average job of $380.

  • 12 calls times 40% is about 5 jobs a week.
  • 5 jobs times $380 is about $1,900 a week.
  • Over 52 weeks that is roughly $98,800 a year.

Now cut it down. Only some of those jobs are real, some callers hang up on any robot, and emergencies still need a person. Cut the number in half and ask whether the voice agent still pays its quote. If the answer is yes, the phone is the right first AI purchase. If it is no, spend the money somewhere else.

If you are unsure which of your leaks is biggest, the AI Strategy Sprint is a paid 3-day first step where we look for it together, and it starts with a free 15-minute AI brainstorm call.

Where a human still checks

  • Emergencies: gas smells, flooding and no heat for elderly customers need a human rule, not a booking script.
  • Dispatch fee wording: read the script the agent says. A wrong promise becomes a billing argument.
  • Automated dispatch: a dispatcher should review the first weeks of assignments, since customers and techs notice a bad pairing quickly.
  • Call recording: check the consent rules in your state before turning recording on.

What do owners add outside ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan does not list these as AI features, so owners handle them outside. Ask in the demo, because ServiceTitan adds products often.

  • Quote follow-up: a message that goes out when an estimate has sat for three days.
  • Membership renewals: a list of members expiring next month and a prepared outreach text.
  • Custom answers: a plain-language question such as "which tech has the most callbacks this quarter" answered from your own data.
  • A voice agent on a cheaper contract: some shops use a separate voice agent, which I compare in AI receptionists for plumbers, HVAC and electricians.

Most of this is simple automation, not a big build. My guides on business process automation and AI tools for contractors go further.

How does BuildOps AI compare?

BuildOps is software for commercial contractors that runs service work, projects and billing in one system. Its AI is called OpsAI, with "agents" (software helpers that do a defined job) built on top. BuildOps lists a Revenue Agent that turns tech recommendations into drafted quotes and flags quotes idle for 14 days or more, a Service Agent that flags stalled jobs, a Billing Agent that bills the way each contract says, and a Collections Agent that prioritizes receivables and matches payments. Dispatch agents and AP automation are listed as coming soon. It is the clearest example of AI aimed at the back office and the money, where ServiceTitan's AI leans toward calls, techs and dispatch. For a head-to-head, read ServiceTitan vs BuildOps.

How I'd approach this

I would not buy AI because it is on the menu. I would count one week of missed calls, stale quotes and late invoices in your shop, put a dollar figure on each, and start with the biggest. If it is the phone, test ServiceTitan's AI Virtual Agent against one cheaper voice agent using the same call script, and compare real booked jobs after a month. If it is quotes or renewals, a small automation outside the platform is usually faster and cheaper.

Whatever you choose, keep a person in charge of the emergency rules and the price wording. That is the part no vendor can own for you.

Questions people ask

Does ServiceTitan have an AI voice agent?

Yes. ServiceTitan calls it the AI Virtual Agent. It answers overflow and after-hours calls, books jobs to the dispatch board, confirms and reschedules appointments, and passes the call to a person when needed. For other options, see my guide to AI voice agents.

What is ServiceTitan Atlas?

Atlas is ServiceTitan's AI assistant. In the field it answers equipment and troubleshooting questions for technicians, and it can pull data from your account in a chat. ServiceTitan lists office features, such as help for dispatchers and CSRs, as coming soon.

Is ServiceTitan AI included in the base price?

ServiceTitan sells its AI-powered products as Pro add-ons on top of its Starter, Essentials and The Works packages, and does not publish prices. Ask for each add-on as its own line on the quote.

Can I use an AI receptionist with ServiceTitan without buying the Pro products?

Often yes. Many shops use a separate AI receptionist that books into their calendar or sends a summary to the office. Check how the booking reaches ServiceTitan, since a hand-typed job can double the office work. See AI answering for contractors.

What AI does BuildOps have?

BuildOps lists OpsAI built into its platform, plus agents for quotes, service jobs, billing and collections. Dispatch agents and AP automation are listed as coming soon. See ServiceTitan vs BuildOps.

Are the vendor result numbers reliable?

They are the vendor's own figures from select customers, and the pages say results vary. Use them to know what to test, then measure your own booked jobs over a month.
