Which AI tools actually help an Amazon seller run the business?

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: Three kinds of AI help an Amazon seller today: Amazon's own tools inside Seller Central (the dashboard where you run your Amazon business), paid seller tools that add profit and stock reports, and a general AI assistant like Claude that reads your reports and flags problems. All three are good at reading data you already have. None of them should decide what to buy or how much cash to risk. FBA, short for Fulfillment by Amazon, is the program where Amazon stores and ships your stock, and most of the useful AI work sits around it.

You sell on Amazon, maybe on other channels too, and you want to know which AI tools are worth paying for and which are noise.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

If you want to know where AI would pay off in your own selling business first, the AI Strategy Sprint finds it in 3 days.

What AI can really do for an Amazon seller

Most of an Amazon seller's week is reading numbers and acting on them. Which products are about to run out. Which ones are sitting too long and costing storage fees. What is left after Amazon's fees, ads and the cost of the goods. AI is good at that kind of reading, fast and without getting bored.

It is poor at judgment that depends on things it cannot see: a supplier who is late, a product you plan to drop, or cash you need to keep free. So I split the work in two. Let AI read and flag. Keep the buying decisions with a person. My general guide, AI for ecommerce stores, covers the store side. This page is about the Amazon side.

Amazon's own tools

  • Restock Inventory tool. Amazon says it gives restock recommendations based on your sales history, plus demand and seasonality forecasts. It only knows Amazon sales, so it cannot see demand on your own website.
  • FBA Inventory tool and IPI. IPI is the Inventory Performance Index, a score from 0 to 1,000 that rates how well you balance stock. Amazon says you need a Professional selling plan to see it. The tool also flags excess stock (over 90 days of supply compared with demand) and stranded stock (units with no active listing).
  • Seller Assistant. Amazon describes this as an AI helper inside Seller Central that can set goals, build plans and, with your permission, take actions for you. What it can do varies by account and region, so open it in Seller Central and test it on a real question.

Start here, since these sit inside the account you already pay for. Amazon lists the Professional selling plan at $39.99 a month plus selling fees, as of November 2026.

Fee dates to know, as of November 2026. Amazon says most of its 2027 US fee changes start on 15 January 2027, and that from 1 February 2027 one monthly storage fee, with a rate set by how old the stock is, replaces the current monthly storage fee, storage utilization surcharge and aged inventory surcharge. Amazon says this gives flat or lower storage fees for stock that sells within six months and higher fees for older stock. It also says FBA fulfillment fees will rise by an average of $0.19 per unit sold, about 0.8% of the average selling price, with some products going up and others down. When you give an AI your fee reports, label which month each row comes from, so rows under the old and new rules are not mixed.

Check each vendor's page before buying, since plan limits change. sellerboard's cheapest plan has an order cap, and Helium 10's Platinum plan lists limited profit reporting, so the plan you need may cost more than the headline price. Helium 10's Diamond plan lists an AI agent for listing, ads and operations questions. Treat it as a helper to try on a free trial, not as a replacement for checking your numbers.

A worked example (made-up numbers)

Say you sell 40 products on Amazon and 25 of them on your own Shopify store, a hosted tool for running an online shop. Every Monday you download two files: your Amazon FBA inventory report and your Shopify stock export. You paste both into Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, and ask it to do four things.

  1. List every SKU (your own product code) where Amazon's available units plus your Shopify units are under 30 days of sales.
  2. List every SKU with more than 90 days of supply on Amazon.
  3. List every SKU that shows on one channel but is missing from the other.
  4. Write one plain sentence about each flag.

Made-up result: 6 SKUs are low, 4 are over 90 days, and 2 exist on Amazon only because a listing was never copied over. That is a ten-minute Monday job instead of an afternoon of scrolling. You still decide what to order.

Where a custom workflow fits

The Monday routine above works until it becomes a chore. A multichannel brand eventually wants the same check to run by itself: pull Amazon, Shopify and warehouse stock into one list, compare them, and send an alert when something drifts. Ready-made tools cover one channel well and the rest badly. If you outgrow that, a small connected build is a fair next step. For stock basics, see my inventory management system guide, and for how the pieces fit, tool stack for an ecommerce store.

Amazon's own words point the same way. At its 2025 Accelerate event Amazon said that moving from several inventory pools to one lets a business run leaner stock while staying in stock. One pool needs one view of that stock.

Where a person still checks

  • Any buy order. AI does not know your supplier's delays or your cash.
  • Any fix inside Seller Central that changes a listing or removes stock.
  • Any number that drives a price change. Check it against Amazon's reports.
  • Anything with customer data. Strip buyer details before you paste a file into an AI tool.

How I'd approach this

I would not buy anything first. Use Amazon's free tools for a month, and run the Monday paste routine with Claude. Write down what you do by hand every week. If one job keeps coming up, such as profit by product or stock across channels, then look at a paid tool like sellerboard or InventoryLab. Choosing the first AI job to automate is exactly what the AI Strategy Sprint is for: a paid 3-day first step with a free 15-minute AI brainstorm call to start. If you need a business-wide plan, read AI for small business too. Only build custom software when no tool fits and the manual work is costing real hours.

Questions people ask

Does Amazon have its own AI for sellers?

Yes. Seller Central includes a Restock Inventory tool with forecast-based recommendations and an AI helper called Seller Assistant. Amazon says Seller Assistant can take actions with your permission. Which features you see depends on your account, so check Seller Central.

What is the cheapest way to get a real profit number per product?

A paid dashboard such as sellerboard, which starts at $19 a month as of November 2026. A spreadsheet also works if you enter fees, ads and product cost for each SKU, but it takes more weekly effort.

Can Claude connect to my Amazon account?

You can paste or upload reports you download from Seller Central and ask Claude to read them. That needs no setup. A live connection that runs every week by itself is a small build. My guide to AI agents explains the idea.

Is it safe to upload my Amazon reports to an AI tool?

Inventory and sales reports usually hold product and quantity data, not buyer data. Remove customer names and addresses, supplier prices you must keep private, and anything covered by a confidentiality agreement before you upload.

Will AI tell me how much stock to order?

It can do the arithmetic from your sales and lead times, and Amazon's own tool gives forecasts. The order itself is your call. Supplier delays, a planned launch and your cash all sit outside the data.

I sell on Amazon and other channels. What should I do first?

Get one list of stock across all channels. Everything else, including alerts and AI checks, depends on it. See my inventory management system guide.
