Higgsfield vs Seedance and Hailuo: use the model's own site or a hub?

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 10 min read

Short answer: Seedance is a family of AI video models made by ByteDance (the company behind TikTok and CapCut). You can use it on ByteDance's own site, Dreamina, or inside a hub such as Higgsfield, a web platform that sells many image and video models from one login. Hailuo is the video site of the Chinese company MiniMax. If most of your clips come from one model, its own site is usually simpler and often cheaper per second. If you switch between models or want a platform's extra tools, a hub can be worth the overhead. Compare cost per approved clip, not the headline price.

Ranjit Bhinge

You like what Seedance makes, and now you see it sold in three places at three prices. Which one do you pay?

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

This page is for an owner or a small agency who has seen Seedance 2.5, MiniMax H3 or another new video model and wants to know where to buy it. There are two broad routes. You can go direct to the company that made the model, or you can use a hub that resells many models. Below, Dreamina (ByteDance's consumer site) and Hailuo (MiniMax's site) are compared with Higgsfield, with a way to work out the cost of a clip you actually keep.

Facts come from the vendors' own pages as of 4 November 2026, and from Higgsfield's pricing page, terms and help center. Prices and credits change often, and several are promotions, so treat every number below as a snapshot and check the vendor page before you pay.

This page may contain affiliate links from which Blur Studio earns commissions.

Direct site or hub: what the choice really is

A direct site is run by the company that built the model. A hub is a third party that buys access to many models and shows them in one place. Neither is always better.

  • Direct strengths: the newest model and its settings tend to appear first, and you pay one company for one model. Prices are often lower, especially on promotions.
  • Hub strengths: one login and one credit balance for many models, so you can run the same idea on three models and keep the best. You also get the hub's own tools, such as a film-style shot builder.
  • Direct weaknesses: each model needs its own subscription, and the sign-up terms, regions and watermark rules differ by site.
  • Hub weaknesses: a second layer of pricing and credits, and the hub's list may lag the newest features.

If you only want one model, the hub's main selling point does not apply to you. That is the starting point. For the same question about another model, see my page on Higgsfield vs Kling.

Where you can use Seedance

You can reach Seedance in three ways.

  1. Dreamina, ByteDance's consumer creative site. Seedance 2.5 and 2.0 appear on its own price page.
  2. A hub such as Higgsfield. Its tool list includes Seedance 2.5 (480p to 1080p, clips of 4 to 30 seconds, up to 50 reference files), Seedance 2.0 (480p to 4K, 4 to 15 seconds), 2.0 Mini and 1.5 Pro.
  3. An API (a way for software to call the model), sold through ByteDance's cloud arm and by third-party hosts. ByteDance's API price page is not summarised here, and aggregator figures disagree and describe availability differently, so no API price is quoted. If you need the API route, read the vendor's price page yourself. My general page on plugging video generation into your own tool covers what to check.

Dreamina plans and credits per second

Dreamina sells monthly memberships that give you credits. A credit is the site's unit of spend: each clip costs a number of credits that depends on the model, the length and the resolution. These figures are from Dreamina's own Seedance price page as of 4 November 2026. The site also showed a separate "Early Black Friday" banner that day, so its offers change quickly.

ItemWhat the page shows
Credits per second at 720pSeedance 2.5: 37. Seedance 2.0: 17. Fast: 8. Mini: 5.
Monthly credits by planBasic 1,575. Standard 3,885. Advanced 17,600. Ultra 59,000.
Intro offerBasic first month $0.29 for eligible US users, then a listed renewal of $15 a month.
UnlimitedThe page does not offer unlimited generation on these plans.

Do the arithmetic once. At 37 credits a second, the 1,575 credits on Basic buy about 42 seconds of Seedance 2.5 at 720p. The same credits buy about 92 seconds of Seedance 2.0, or about 315 seconds of Mini. The page also prints comparison claims against Higgsfield. They are marketing, built on quotes the site says were supplied, so treat them as a sales claim.

Hailuo and MiniMax H3: what is and is not public

Hailuo is the consumer video site from MiniMax, a Chinese AI company. Its home page showed, as of 4 November 2026, MiniMax H3 as live, Wan 3.0 as live, a "From $9.99/mo" subscription line, and sample H3 settings such as 2K, 5 seconds and a 21:9 wide frame. It also shows a reference-image limit of 12 for H3 and a banner offering 3,000 free credits for downloading MiniMax Design. The plan table is not visible without signing in.

So some things are not public: how many credits each plan includes, what a 5-second clip costs, whether free output is watermarked, and what the licence says about commercial use. Third-party blogs disagree with each other on entry prices and credits, so they are not relied on here. Read the signed-in plan view and the terms before you pay for client work.

Here is how it compares in kind. Hailuo direct is the better pick if you only want MiniMax's model and the lowest entry price. Higgsfield lists Hailuo, MiniMax H3 and H3 Max in its video tools, but there is no source saying its settings match the direct site, so run a same-prompt test before assuming that.

What Higgsfield does for this job

Higgsfield is built for the person who does not want to commit to one model. As of November 2026, its pricing page shows Starter at $19 a month with 270 credits, Plus at $59 monthly or $47 on an annual plan with 1,200 credits, and Ultra at $129 monthly or $99 annual with 3,000 credits. Prices exclude tax, and you should check the pricing page, because they move.

For Seedance specifically, these points matter:

  • Several versions in one account. You can try Seedance 2.5, 2.0 and Mini next to Kling, Veo, Wan and Hailuo without opening five accounts.
  • Published credit cost for 2.0. Higgsfield's pricing table lists Seedance 2.0 at 720p at about 22 credits per 5-second clip. It does not publish a credit cost for Seedance 2.5. The cost shows on the Generate button before you spend.
  • Plan gating. Seedance 2.5 is not included on Starter, so the cheapest plan will not give you the newest version.
  • Film-style tool. Cinema Studio 4.0 runs on Seedance 2.5 and offers clips up to 30 seconds at up to 1080p. See my guide to Higgsfield Cinema Studio.
  • Credits expire. Subscription credits end with each billing cycle. Top-up credits last 90 days. Unspent subscription credits are wasted money, which matters for cost per clip.

The pricing page has also shown limited-time "unlimited" Seedance blocks on some plans. Treat these as promotions, not part of a normal month. Higgsfield's help center says unlimited use is web-only, for personal use, runs in the standard queue, and does not cover automation or reselling, and the page notes speed can be adjusted in busy periods. Business plans need business verification for their unlimited period. If your work is for clients, check whether that use is allowed before you plan around it. For the plans in detail, read Higgsfield pricing explained.

Try Higgsfield with a discount

I use Higgsfield a lot and I love it, which is why I partnered with them to bring you a discount. Get started through this link and you can get up to 50% off for the first 3 hours after you log in. The size of the discount and the plans it covers can vary, so check the offer on screen.

Cost per usable clip, with a made-up brief

Dreamina's own price page gives a sound example: four deliverables, 15 seconds each, five attempts to get a good one. That is 4 x 15 x 5 = 300 generated seconds, not 60. Almost nobody keeps the first result. Here is what that brief looks like on the numbers above. The brief is made up, and the dollar conversions assume you use every credit you buy.

RouteCredits for 300 secondsRough cost
Dreamina, Seedance 2.0 at 17 credits a second5,100About 3.2 Basic months of credits. At the listed $15 renewal that is about $49.
Dreamina, Seedance 2.5 at 37 credits a second11,100More than Standard's 3,885 a month. Check the vendor page for the dollar price of a larger plan.
Higgsfield, Seedance 2.0 at about 22 credits per 5 seconds (assumes cost grows with length)About 1,320Slightly more than one Plus month. At $47 for 1,200 credits it is about $52. On the $59 monthly price, about $65.
Higgsfield, Seedance 2.5Not publishedRead the Generate button for one clip, then multiply.

The lesson is not that one site wins. At listed renewal prices, the Dreamina and Higgsfield Seedance 2.0 figures land close together, because Dreamina's trick is the first-month price, not the long-run price. The Dreamina figures are for eligible US users, and the site showed local-currency prices to me, so your region may differ.

Intro-offer traps and "unlimited" labels

  • First-month prices. A $0.29 first month is a promotion. Do not multiply it by twelve. The page itself lists $15 a month at renewal.
  • Eligibility. The Dreamina offer is for eligible US users from a start date shown on the page. Outside that group the price is different.
  • Credits versus seconds. Two sites can both say "credits" and mean different things. Convert to dollars per second, as above, or the comparison is false.
  • Unlimited. Before you plan on it, check the queue, how many jobs run at once, the resolution cap, which models are excluded, and whether business use is allowed.
  • Retries. Quote cost per approved clip. A tool that costs half as much per second but needs twice the attempts is the same price.

My article on spending Higgsfield credits wisely shows how to measure that approved-clip number.

Rights, watermark and region

Treat this as information, not legal advice. Check each platform's current terms before client work.

  • Watermarks. Higgsfield marks free output as watermarked. Dreamina's and Hailuo's watermark rules are not confirmed here, so check before you publish.
  • Commercial use. Higgsfield's pricing table marks commercial use as not included for Free, while its help center says the terms do not tie commercial rights to a plan. Both statements exist, so put client work on a paid plan. Read Dreamina's and Hailuo's commercial terms before client work, because they vary by plan and change.
  • Region. Direct sites from ByteDance and MiniMax may have regional offers, content rules and data terms. Check where your data goes if a client has privacy requirements.
  • Outputs. No site can promise that its output is unique or that you can copyright it. Keep your own prompts and drafts.

Higgsfield's terms also say it may train on content except under Enterprise agreements, so a hub is not automatically safer for client footage than a direct site. Ask each vendor.

Who should skip Higgsfield

  • You use one model for nearly every clip. Go direct and keep it simple.
  • You make a handful of clips a month. A single cheap direct plan or a free tier may cover you.
  • You need the newest model's newest setting the day it launches. Direct sites usually get it first.
  • You are on Starter and want Seedance 2.5. It is not included there.
  • Your client forbids uploading material to a platform that may train on content.

A one-week test plan

  1. Pick three real shots you would sell: a product move, a person talking, and a wide scene.
  2. Write one prompt for each and use it unchanged everywhere.
  3. Run each prompt up to five times on the direct site at a short length, noting credits spent.
  4. Run the same prompts on the hub at the same length, for example on Higgsfield's Seedance models, noting the credits shown on the button.
  5. Mark each result pass or fail: faces stable, text readable, no warped hands, motion matches the brief.
  6. Calculate dollars per passed clip for each route. Pass if one route is at least a quarter cheaper at the same quality, or if the hub saves you from buying a second subscription.

Log the spend per client as you go. My credit tracking template does this.

How I'd approach this

I would not decide on the headline price. I would run the test above with real jobs, using whichever cheap plan or free credits each site gives, and write down dollars per approved clip. If one model does nearly all your work, I would go direct. If you test models often, or want film-style tools and several models under one bill, I would pay for a hub and cancel the direct subscriptions you stop using.

If you make video for clients every week, the repeatable part is the workflow: a brief form, a shared library, a spend log per client and an approval step. Blur Studio builds those around whatever tools you choose, and you can look at it on the business page.

Questions people ask

How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?

It depends on the route. On Dreamina, Seedance 2.5 costs 37 credits a second at 720p, and the Basic plan gives 1,575 credits a month. On Higgsfield, Seedance 2.5 has no published credit cost, so read the number on the Generate button. API prices are not verified here.

Is Dreamina Seedance unlimited?

Not on the plans listed. Dreamina's Seedance price page shows credits per second and a monthly credit allowance. Higgsfield has run limited-time unlimited Seedance promotions with rules, so read those carefully.

Is the $0.29 Dreamina offer real?

The page lists it as a first-month price for eligible US users, with a renewal of $15 a month. Treat it as a short promotion, not a yearly price.

Can I use Seedance in Higgsfield?

Yes. Higgsfield lists Seedance 2.5, 2.0, 2.0 Mini and 1.5 Pro. Seedance 2.5 is not included on the Starter plan.

Is Hailuo free?

Hailuo's home page advertises free credits (3,000 for downloading MiniMax Design) and a subscription from $9.99 a month. The plan table needs a sign-in, so what free output includes is not public. Check watermark and licence terms before client use.

Is MiniMax H3 on Higgsfield?

Higgsfield's video tool list includes Hailuo, MiniMax H3 and H3 Max. Do not assume every direct-site setting is the same there. Test your prompt.

Seedance 2.0 or 2.5?

2.5 is newer and, on Dreamina, costs more than twice as many credits a second as 2.0 (37 against 17). For rough drafts and tests, the cheaper version is often enough. Use 2.5 for the final shot if it visibly helps.

Hailuo or Kling?

For the model-versus-platform question about Kling, read Higgsfield vs Kling. For both, run the same prompt and count passed clips.
