Softr alternatives for client portals and internal apps
Short answer: The main Softr alternatives are Glide, Noloco, SuiteDash, Bubble and Retool. Noloco is the closest match for portals on top of your data and includes 1,000 active clients on its paid plan. SuiteDash suits service firms that want a ready-made client portal with unlimited clients. Glide suits simple mobile-friendly apps. Bubble and Retool suit more complex apps, and a custom build fits when user fees or limits keep growing.
Softr Alternative is one option among several, and you want a fair, current comparison before you commit to any of them.
I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.
Why do people look for a Softr alternative?
The main reason is how Softr charges for users. Here is what Softr's own pricing page shows.
- Free plan: Up to 3 builders and 5 app users in total, with no custom domain.
- Basic: $19 a month billed yearly, or $25 monthly. It includes 1 builder, 5 team users and 5 client users. You cannot add more users on Basic.
- Pro: $99 a month billed yearly, or $119 monthly. It includes 2 builders, 10 team users and 50 client users.
- Business: $329 a month billed yearly, or $395 monthly. It includes 3 builders, 30 team users and 100 client users.
- Extra users: On Pro, each extra team user costs $3 a month and each extra client user costs $1. On Business, they cost $5 and $2. Extra users are billed monthly, even on yearly plans. Pro tops out at 250 client users, and Business at 500.
Here is what that means for a real portal. Say you have 200 clients on Pro, billed yearly. You pay $99 for the plan plus $150 for the 150 extra clients. That is $249 a month, and it grows as you add clients. For a small team with a few dozen clients, Softr can be good value. A business with hundreds of clients should compare the options below. My guide to creating a client portal for your agency covers what to put in one.
What are the best Softr alternatives?
Each tool below fits a different job. I give the lowest paid plan from each vendor's own page.
Blur Studio (best value)
A ready-built, well-tested core with a different pricing model: no per-seat fees, and it covers almost all the features you'd actually need, usually working out to the best value for money. On top of that, Blur Studio builds owned customizations, meaning you can ask for it to be modified to your exact specifications, and you own those modifications outright. - Best for: Businesses that need software that works without barriers, no unnecessary fees and options to customize it to their needs.
Noloco
Noloco builds portals and internal apps on top of your data, much like Softr. The free plan includes unlimited team seats, 50 active clients and 2,000 records. Build costs $65 a month billed yearly, or $79 monthly. It includes 10 team seats, 1,000 active clients and 25,000 records. Noloco says Build can connect to Airtable, Google Sheets, Supabase, Postgres, HubSpot and other data sources. Noloco offers a 14-day free trial on Build.
- Best for: Teams with many clients who want a Softr-style portal without paying for each client.
SuiteDash
SuiteDash is a ready-made client portal with a CRM and email marketing built in. Every plan allows unlimited staff and clients. START costs $19 a month, or $180 a year. It includes 100GB of storage, white labeling and a branded mobile app. White labeling means you can show your own brand in place of SuiteDash's. THRIVE costs $49 a month and adds proposals and deal pipelines. PINNACLE costs $99 a month and adds automation and support tickets. There is a 14-day free trial with no card.
- Best for: Service firms, such as accountants and consultants, that want a portal ready to use without building one.
Glide
Glide turns your data into simple apps for your team. The free plan includes 2 team members, but you cannot publish apps on it. Basic costs $25 a month with 2 published apps. Plus costs $50 a month with 5 published apps. Pro costs $125 a month and starts at 5 team members. Glide's page shows these as monthly prices.
- Best for: Teams that want simple apps for staff, built fast.
Bubble
Bubble is a no-code builder for full web and mobile apps. It gives you far more control than Softr, but it takes longer to learn. The free plan is for building only, so you cannot launch a live app on it. Starter costs $59 a month billed yearly. Growth costs $209 a month billed yearly with 2 app editors. Bubble charges by workload units, which measure how much work your app does on its servers.
- Best for: Founders building a real product, such as a marketplace or a subscription product. My guide to Bubble agencies vs custom code covers when Bubble fits.
Retool
Retool builds internal tools, such as admin screens and approval tools, on top of your own database. The free plan covers up to 5 users. Team starts at $10 a month per builder and $5 per internal user. Business starts at $50 per builder and $15 per internal user. Retool says yearly billing saves 20%. Retool works best with a fairly technical person on the team.
- Best for: Teams with a technical person who need staff-only tools. My guide to internal tools explains this option.

As of October 2026, independently verified pricing: Softr runs Free, Basic at about $49 a month annually (20 app users), Professional at about $139 a month (100 users), and Business at about $269 a month (500 users), billed by how many people can log in to what you build, not by builder seats. Glide runs free to $199 a month. Bubble starts cheaper, around $32 a month, but bills by workload rather than app users, a different model worth understanding before you compare numbers directly. Retool offers a free tier for up to 5 users, a Team plan at $10 a builder a month plus $5 a month per internal user, and Business at $50 a builder a month. Noloco offers a free tier with 30 AI credits a month and 2,000 records, or $79 a month on its Build plan.
What is a good Glide alternative?
Glide suits simple apps, but some teams outgrow its published app limits or need a client portal. Softr and Noloco suit portals for clients. Bubble suits teams that need more control over how the app looks and works.
What is a good SuiteDash alternative?
SuiteDash gives you a ready-made portal with many tools in one place. Some firms want a portal shaped around their own data and process. Softr and Noloco let you build that on top of a spreadsheet or database. If you need a portal that fits your exact workflow, my guide to client portals covers the options, including a custom build.
Which Softr alternative should you pick?
- Pick Noloco if: You want a Softr-style portal with many more clients included.
- Pick SuiteDash if: You want a ready-made portal with a CRM and unlimited clients.
- Pick Glide if: You want a simple app for your staff.
- Pick Bubble if: You are building a product to sell and need full control.
- Pick Retool if: You need internal tools and have a technical person.
- Stay on Softr if: Your user count fits your plan and the tool does what you need.
When does a custom app make more sense?
For many small teams, a no-code tool is the right answer. A custom app makes sense in a few cases.
- Your user count is high: You pay for hundreds of client logins each month, and the bill keeps growing.
- You hit limits often: You work around record caps, slow pages or missing features.
- Your process is unusual: The portal needs rules, steps or screens that no-code tools handle badly.
- You need to own the data: Clients or rules require you to control where the data lives.
- Your app is half built: You started in a no-code tool or an AI builder and got stuck before launch.
If your data still lives in spreadsheets, my guide on turning Excel into a web app covers the first steps. My guide on AI app builders vs hiring a developer helps if you are weighing a DIY build.
How would Blur Studio approach a Softr replacement?
I start with who logs in and what each person needs to see. Then I look at where the data lives and what it costs per user today. Often the right move is to stay on a no-code tool and set it up better. When a custom portal fits, I build it on a standard database and move your data across, and your old app keeps running until the new one is ready. I can add AI to answer client questions or fill in records from emails. I also finish apps that were half built in other tools. You keep the code and the accounts in your own name.
Need something completely custom?
Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask
What is the best free alternative to Softr?
Noloco's free plan includes unlimited team seats, 50 active clients and 2,000 records, as of October 2026. It is a close match to Softr for small portals.
How much does Softr cost?
As of October 2026, Softr Basic costs $19 a month billed yearly or $25 monthly. Pro costs $99 a month billed yearly and Business costs $329. Extra users on Pro and Business cost more each month.
Is SuiteDash better than Softr for a client portal?
SuiteDash is better if you want a ready-made portal with a CRM and unlimited clients. Softr is better if you want to design your own portal on top of your own data.
What is a good Glide alternative?
Softr and Noloco are good choices for client portals. Bubble is a good choice if you need a full app with more control over design and logic.
When should I move from no-code to a custom app?
Consider a custom app when per-user fees keep rising, when you keep hitting limits or when your process is too unusual for no-code tools. A custom app also helps when you must control your data.
What is the real difference between a no-code builder like Softr and an AI app builder like Lovable?
A no-code builder like Softr assembles a portal or app from prebuilt blocks on top of a data source you already have, such as Airtable. An AI app builder like Lovable writes real code from a plain-language description and gives you a full custom app with its own database. My AI app builder guide covers that distinction and when each one actually fits.
Can I move my data off Softr later if I need to?
Yes, since Softr builds on top of a separate data source like Airtable, your actual data was never locked inside Softr itself. What takes real work when you switch is rebuilding the interface and the logic, not recovering the data.
Roughly what does this cost?
As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.
Is my project too small for this?
No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
