Vibe coding tools compared: free tiers and paid plans, side by side

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: As of October 2026, the main vibe coding tools and their free tiers are: Lovable (5 daily build credits, capped at 30 a month), Bolt.new (1 million tokens a month), Replit (30 hours of chat-based building, 60 projects), Emergent (10 monthly credits), v0 (7 messages a day) and Base44 (25 message credits, up to 5 apps). Paid plans start around $16 to $25 a month for most of them, with Replit's Core plan at $20 a month and v0's Plus plan priced per user at $30. There's no single best one. Lovable and Bolt are the strongest general-purpose web app builders, Emergent adds genuine mobile support, Replit suits more complex backend logic, v0 is built for interface design specifically, and Base44 is the cheapest entry point for a modest project.

You want a straight, numbers-based comparison of the main vibe coding tools before picking one to actually build with.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

The tools, free and paid, October 2026

Vibe coding means describing an app in plain language and letting an AI tool write and run the code for you. Here's what each major tool in this space actually gives you for free, and what the first paid tier costs, verified against each vendor's own pricing page.

Lovable

Lovable is an AI software engineer you chat with to build and deploy a web app. Free gives 5 daily build credits capped at 30 a month, plus small monthly cloud and AI credit allowances. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits and scales up through higher tiers as your usage grows (for example, 800 credits runs $200 a month). Business roughly doubles the Pro price at each credit level for team features like single sign-on.

Bolt.new

Bolt.new is an AI website and app builder you chat with in the browser. Free gives 1 million tokens a month with a 300,000 daily cap, with Bolt's own branding left on what you publish. Pro is $25 a month for 10 million tokens, removes branding, adds a custom domain, and lets unused tokens roll over.

Replit

Replit is a broader AI platform for building, launching and growing software, not just a quick prototype tool. Free allows up to 30 hours of chat-based building and 60 projects. Core is $20 a month ($18 annually) with $20 of model credit, and Pro is $100 a month ($90 annually) with $100 of credit and a 28-day database rollback window.

Emergent

Emergent is an AI platform that builds production-ready web and mobile apps through chat, with AI agents handling design, code and deployment. Free gives 10 monthly credits. Standard is $20 a month ($17 annually) for 100 monthly credits, private hosting and GitHub integration. Emergent stands out specifically for its mobile support alongside web.

v0

v0 is Vercel's AI tool for designing and building web interfaces, leaning harder into visual polish than the others on this list. Free allows 7 messages a day. Plus is $30 a user a month, with $30 of included monthly credit plus a small daily credit grant.

Base44

Base44, owned by Wix, is a no-code AI platform that uses vibe coding to build fully functional apps and websites, with a frontend, backend, database and authentication included. Free gives 25 message credits and up to 5 apps. On annual billing, Starter is $16 a month for 100 message credits, scaling up through Builder ($40), Pro ($80) and Elite ($160).

Why these tools charge you in such different units

One detail worth understanding before comparing numbers directly: these six tools don't measure usage the same way, which makes a side-by-side price comparison trickier than it looks. Lovable, Emergent and Base44 charge per "credit," a unit each vendor defines for its own platform, so a credit on one tool doesn't equal a credit on another. Bolt charges per token, a smaller, more granular unit tied to how much text the AI processes, which is why its free tier number (1 million) looks so much bigger than Lovable's (30 credits) despite covering roughly comparable real usage. Replit measures its free tier in hours and project count rather than a consumption unit at all, and v0 caps free usage by a flat daily message count. None of these units convert cleanly into each other, so the only reliable way to compare real-world value is to test the same project on each tool's free tier and see how far it actually gets you, not to compare the raw numbers on the pricing page.

Picking one to actually use

Start with the free tier of whichever tool matches what you're building before paying anything: Lovable or Bolt for a general web app, Emergent if mobile matters, Replit if you expect genuinely custom logic, v0 if the interface design is the priority, and Base44 if budget is the deciding factor. Most free tiers are generous enough to tell within an afternoon whether a tool's approach fits how you think about your project. The extra charges that appear once you pay are covered in how much vibe coding costs.

When upgrading from free is actually worth it

Each tool signals the same underlying moment differently, but the moment itself is consistent: you've validated the idea works and you're now building the real version, not testing whether it's worth building at all. On Lovable or Bolt, that's when you've used your free credits or tokens more than once in a session and you're still actively iterating rather than just poking at the idea. On Replit, it's when you've hit the 60-project limit or want a more capable model than the free tier gives you access to. On v0, it's almost immediate, 7 messages a day runs out within a single serious working session. Paying before that point usually buys you very little extra, since the free tier is specifically scoped to let the idea-testing phase run its course before asking for money.

Whichever one you choose, test methodically as you go rather than trusting the tool's own summary of what it changed, and check how your data is protected before anyone outside your team uses the result. My guide to vibe coding best practices covers exactly how to do both without needing to read code.

It's also worth revisiting this comparison every few months rather than treating your first choice as permanent. All six tools update their pricing, free-tier limits and underlying AI models regularly, sometimes meaningfully, and a tool that didn't fit six months ago may have closed the specific gap that ruled it out then.

How does Blur Studio approach vibe coding tools?

I work with projects built in all six of these regularly, usually once an owner wants to know whether what they've built is ready for real customers, or needs a specific piece finished that the tool couldn't handle. I'll tell you plainly which is true before recommending anything bigger, and if the free or entry-paid tier of one of these six already does what you need, I'll say so even though it means less work for me.

Questions people ask

Which vibe coding tool is cheapest overall?

Base44's Starter plan at $16 a month (annual billing) is currently the cheapest real paid entry point among these six tools, with Emergent close behind at $17 a month on annual billing.

Is Replit really a vibe coding tool, or something different?

It supports the same plain-language, chat-based building as the others, but it's built as a broader development platform with a visible code workspace alongside the chat, which makes it more flexible but less purely chat-first than Lovable or Bolt.

Which tool should I pick if I've never used any of these before?

Lovable or Bolt are the easiest starting points for a general web app, since both are built to need the least prompting skill to get a clean result on a first try.

Do any of these tools let me build a mobile app?

Emergent is the strongest fit here for both web and mobile from one chat-first tool. My AI mobile app builder guide covers more dedicated mobile options too.

Why do free tiers vary so much between these tools?

Each vendor scopes its free tier around how it measures usage internally, credits, tokens, messages or hours, so the caps aren't directly comparable without converting them to a rough sense of "how much can I actually build."

Roughly what does a custom build cost if none of these are enough?

As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.

Is my project too small for this?

No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If one of the tools above genuinely gets you where you need to go, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
