Does Cin7 connect to my store, accounts and shipping tools?

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: Yes. Cin7, inventory software for brands that sell on several channels, lists 700+ app connections, including Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, ShipStation, QuickBooks and Xero. Each plan caps how many store and app connections you get, and the developer API for custom links allows 60 calls a minute per API application. When the built-in links miss something, a small custom connection can fill the gap.

You want to know which of your store, accounting and shipping tools Cin7 will connect to, and what happens when the built-in links fall short.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

What does Cin7 connect to?

Cin7 says it connects with over 700 app partners across accounting, marketplaces and e-commerce, shipping, and EDI and 3PL (electronic order exchange with big retailers, and outside warehouses). Its integrations page names these as the main ones:

ToolWhat it isWhat Cin7 says it does
ShopifyOnline store platformTwo-way sync of stock, orders, products and returns
Amazon, WalmartMarketplacesKeeps Amazon listings in sync with live stock levels, and manages Walmart Marketplace listings alongside other channels
QuickBooks OnlineAccounting software from IntuitPushes invoices, bills and inventory values across
XeroAccounting softwareSyncs orders and stock data with the ledger
ShipStationShipping label and rate toolSends orders over to compare rates, print labels and return tracking

Cin7 Core also lists WooCommerce, another store platform, among its top connections. The names matter less than the depth. A connection that moves orders is not the same as one that updates product details, handles returns and keeps stock right after an edit. Ask for a demo of your exact tools.

Cin7's Shopify page describes a native two-way sync. Orders flow from Shopify into Cin7, stock updates go both ways, and returns update stock levels. It lists these setup steps:

  1. Connect your Shopify store to Cin7.
  2. Map your products and locations so SKUs, variants and warehouses line up. An SKU is one sellable item, such as a size and color.
  3. Choose your sync settings for stock, orders and product data.
  4. Test with a few orders.
  5. Go live.

Step two is where most of the work hides. If your Shopify SKUs are inconsistent, the sync copies the mess faithfully. Clean the product list first.

What about QuickBooks and Xero?

Cin7 Core's plan table lists the accounting link as Xero or QuickBooks Online, and says it works with new and existing accounts. Cin7 pushes the numbers across so your accountant sees the same figures. One limit from the developer docs: updating the chart of accounts through the API is not allowed while the Xero or QuickBooks link is switched on. Change accounts in your accounting tool instead. If you are weighing accounting software at the same time, see my QuickBooks alternatives guide.

What about ShipStation and shipping tools?

Cin7 says it syncs orders to ShipStation so you can compare rates, print labels and send tracking without retyping. If you are thinking of changing shipping tools, my ShipStation alternatives guide compares the main options. Whichever you pick, check that tracking numbers come back into Cin7 and then out to the sales channel.

How many connections do I get?

Each Cin7 Core plan has a cap on store and app connections, as of November 2026: 2 on Standard ($349 a month), 4 on Pro ($599) and 6 on Advanced ($1,199). More are available for purchase. Cin7's plan table lists the accounting link on its own row, but its pricing FAQ says standard connections include accounting, marketplace, e-commerce and shipping connections, so ask in writing whether accounting counts against the cap. Count your tools before you pick a plan: web store, Amazon, a shipping tool, a 3PL and a returns app is already five.

How does the Cin7 API work, and what are its limits?

An API is a set of doors that lets software talk to other software. The Cin7 Core developer portal gives these facts:

  • The rate limit is 60 calls a minute. Go over and you get a 429 error, which means too many requests.
  • Limits apply per API application. You can create several API applications on one account, so separate tools can each have their own limit.
  • Lists are paged. Sales, purchases and products return 100 records by default and 1,000 at most per request.
  • Not everything is in the API. Cin7 says the API is a subset of what the screen can do.
  • Plan for failure. Cin7 tells developers to queue requests and retry, because networks drop.
  • The API is an add-on on Standard. Cin7's plan table also lists a Flex API for high-volume sellers, which Standard does not include.

Here is a made-up example. A seller on a flash sale gets 400 orders in 20 minutes. If a custom tool makes three API calls per order, that is 1,200 calls, which at 60 a minute takes 20 minutes. Orders would arrive late. The fix is to batch calls, use the paging limits well, or lean on the built-in connectors for the heavy traffic.

When does a custom connection help?

The built-in links cover the common path. A custom link makes sense when:

  • Your tool is not in the 700+ list.
  • You need a rule the connector lacks, such as holding back stock for a wholesale customer.
  • You want data in a report or dashboard that Cin7 does not give you.
  • You want to cut a per-connection cost by moving one low-traffic channel to a small script.

I cover the wider decision in my build versus buy guide, and the sibling decision of switching tools in my Fishbowl alternatives guide. If your sync problems are with Amazon and Shopify specifically, see how AI can help when the Shopify and Amazon link breaks.

What is a quick planning worksheet for connections?

Fill this in before you talk to Cin7. The example row is made up.

ToolLink typePlan cap usedRisk
Shopify storeBuilt-in1 of 4SKU mapping
AmazonBuilt-in2 of 4Stock buffer rules
ShipStationBuilt-in3 of 4Tracking comes back late
Returns app (made-up example)Custom through the APIUses API calls, not a cap60 calls a minute

Anything in the Risk column that you cannot explain is a question for the vendor. Also ask who fixes a broken link: Cin7, the other tool's vendor, or you. With 700+ partner connections, the fix may sit with the partner's support team, and that shapes how fast it arrives.

How I'd approach this

Write down every tool in your chain, in order: store, marketplaces, Cin7, shipping, accounting. Mark each link as built-in, needs a connector purchase, or custom. Then count the connections against the plan cap.

Use built-in connectors for anything standard. They are maintained by someone else. Save custom work for the one or two links that cost you hours every week, and build them with the 60-call limit in mind from day one. If you are not sure which links those are, spend a week tracking the manual fixes your team makes. The list usually writes itself.
