Emergent vs Bolt vs v0 vs Lovable vs Replit: five AI app builders, one table

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: Emergent, Bolt, v0, Lovable and Replit are all AI app builders that turn a plain-language description into working code, but they're not identical. Emergent and Bolt are the most general-purpose for a non-technical founder, v0 leans toward developers building on Vercel's own stack, Lovable has the most generous free tier of the five, and Replit leans toward teams that want a fuller coding workspace alongside the AI. Entry-level paid pricing clusters around $20 to $30 a month across all five, but what that buys differs a lot.

You want one table that puts Emergent, Bolt, v0, Lovable and Replit on the same footing instead of reading five separate pricing pages.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

What these five tools actually are

All five are AI app builders: each one lets you describe an app in plain language and get back working code, usually with hosting included. Emergent is an AI app builder for web and mobile apps built around a credit system. Bolt is an AI builder for websites and apps you chat with, measured in tokens. v0 is the AI app builder made by Vercel, a cloud hosting company for websites and web apps, and v0 is closely tied to Vercel's own hosting and the Next.js/React code it tends to generate. Lovable is an AI builder that generates both the frontend and backend of an app with no per-seat pricing on any plan. Replit is an AI-assisted coding and app-building platform that leans slightly more toward a full workspace than a pure chat-to-app builder.

One table, same criteria

ToolFree tierEntry paid planWhat makes it different
Emergent10 credits/month, no card required$20/mo ($17/mo annual), 100 credits/monthWeb and mobile apps from one tool, GitHub export from the entry paid tier
Bolt1M tokens/month, 300K daily cap, no card required$25/mo, 10M tokens/month with rolloverToken rollover on paid plans, strong SEO and connector features
v07 messages/day, no stated monthly token cap, plus a one-time $5 credit for new usersPlus: $30/user/month, $30 monthly credits/userDeepest integration with Vercel hosting and Next.js-style code output
LovableUp to 30 build credits/month plus 20 Cloud credits/monthPro plan exists, current dollar figure not shown on a live fetch, confirm on lovable.dev/pricingNo per-seat pricing anywhere, unlimited workspace members on every plan
ReplitNot a distinct free plan on current pricing page; entry tier is CoreCore: $20/mo ($18/mo annual), up to 30 hours chat, up to 60 projectsLeans toward a fuller coding workspace, 28-day database rollback on Pro

Lovable's exact Pro and Business dollar amounts didn't render in a live fetch of its pricing page at the time of writing, since those figures load through client-side script rather than appearing in the page's static content. Confirm the current number directly on lovable.dev/pricing before treating it as a like-for-like comparison with the other four.

Output type: web, mobile, backend

  • Emergent: explicitly builds both web and mobile apps, with a backend, from the same conversation.
  • Bolt: builds websites and apps, with a database and hosting, web-first.
  • v0: generates code and interfaces that deploy through Vercel, leaning web and strongly toward the React/Next.js ecosystem that developers already use.
  • Lovable: builds both frontend and backend together, with hosting through its own "Lovable Cloud."
  • Replit: supports a wide range of app types inside a broader workspace that also functions as a general coding environment.

Pick by project

  • A non-technical founder testing a simple idea, web or mobile: Emergent, for the broadest free output type and the lowest entry price alongside Bolt.
  • A website or app with heavy SEO and content needs: Bolt, whose Pro plan explicitly lists SEO boosting as a feature.
  • A developer or technical founder already building on Vercel: v0, since it's purpose-built for that stack and workflow.
  • A small team that doesn't want per-seat fees eating into the budget: Lovable, the only one of the five with no per-seat pricing on any tier.
  • A team that wants an AI builder plus a more traditional coding workspace for a developer to step into later: Replit, whose database rollback and collaborator limits lean toward that handoff.

Team pricing across all five, side by side

If more than one person needs access, the five tools split clearly into two groups. Lovable and Replit's Core plan don't charge extra per additional team member in the way the other three do: Lovable has no per-seat pricing on any plan, and Replit's Core plan supports collaboration within its included usage before you'd need Pro or Enterprise. Bolt's Teams plan, v0's Plus and Business plans, and Emergent's custom-quoted Business plan all charge per user or per seat, meaning a five-person team on any of these three costs meaningfully more than the solo entry price might suggest. If team cost scaling matters to your decision, check this before comparing headline prices, since it changes the real math considerably once you're past a single builder.

How usage is measured matters more than the sticker price

All five tools cluster around $20 to $30 a month for their entry paid plan, which makes the sticker price almost useless for comparing them on its own. What actually differs is the unit each one meters: Emergent and Base44-style tools use credits tied loosely to request complexity, Bolt and v0 use raw token counts, and Replit measures a mix of chat hours and project counts. None of these units convert cleanly into each other, so the honest comparison isn't "which plan costs less," it's "which tool's free tier lets you build enough of a real test project to judge whether its output is good enough for your actual use case." That's a more useful test than comparing numbers on a page. The vibe coding tools compared page lists each free tier side by side.

A worked example: the same small app, two different tools

Take a simple booking form with a database behind it. Built in Emergent, you'd likely use a meaningful share of the Free plan's 10 credits for a first version, pushing you toward Standard ($20/mo, 100 credits) once you need a few rounds of fixes. Built in Bolt, the same app would likely use a small fraction of the free plan's 1 million monthly tokens, leaving plenty of room to iterate without paying anything. That doesn't mean Bolt is objectively better for this specific app, it means Bolt's free allowance happens to map more generously onto a small, simple project, while Emergent's credit system is tuned differently. Try the same small, real project on two of these tools' free tiers before paying for either, it tells you more than any spec comparison.

Verdict

There's no single best AI app builder among these five, only a best fit for what you're building and who's building it. Emergent and Bolt are the easiest on-ramp for someone with zero technical background. v0 only makes sense if you or a developer are already comfortable with Vercel's ecosystem. Lovable's no-per-seat pricing is the standout if a small team is sharing one account. Replit sits furthest toward "coding workspace with AI help" rather than "pure chat-to-app," which suits a slightly more technical user. Try the free tier on whichever two feel closest to your use case before paying for either. If you are not technical, the best AI app builder for non-technical founders narrows the choice further.

Need something completely custom?

Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask

Which of these five AI app builders is cheapest to start?

Emergent, Bolt and Lovable all offer a genuinely free starting tier with no card required. Replit's current pricing page starts directly at its $20-a-month Core plan rather than a separate free tier.

Which one is best for a mobile app specifically?

Emergent lists mobile app building as a core feature from its free tier up, making it the most explicit choice of the five for that use case.

Is v0 only useful if I already know how to code?

v0 is usable by a non-technical person, but it's built closest to a developer workflow, tied to Vercel's hosting and typical React/Next.js code output, so a technical background helps more here than with the other four.

Do any of these charge per team member?

Bolt's Teams plan and v0's Plus and Business plans charge per user. Lovable is the one of the five with no per-seat pricing on any plan.

Which tool has the most generous free usage?

Bolt's 1 million free tokens a month is the largest stated free allowance among the five, though the unit differs from Emergent's and Lovable's credit systems, so it's not a precise apples-to-apples comparison.

Can I switch between these tools if one doesn't work out?

Most support exporting your code, usually through GitHub, which gives you a path to move the project to a developer or a different tool rather than starting over completely.
