Can QuickBooks replace Jobber, or do you need both?

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 5 min read

Short answer: Most service businesses need both, because they do different jobs. Jobber, a field service tool for quotes, scheduling, invoices and payments, runs the work. QuickBooks, accounting software for your books and taxes, tracks the money. Jobber's QuickBooks Online sync starts on its Connect plan, $99 a month on yearly billing as of November 2026. A very small business with no crew to schedule can sometimes get by on accounting software alone.

You want to know whether QuickBooks can do the job of Jobber, or whether paying for both just gives you two places to keep the same numbers.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

What is each one for?

These two tools are often compared, but they sit at different ends of the same business.

Jobber is field service software. It handles the work: online booking, quotes, scheduling your crew, invoices and card payments. Its Core plan is $29 a month on yearly billing for one user, as of November 2026.

QuickBooks is accounting software. It handles the books: bank feeds, expenses, tax categories and reports your accountant can use. Crew scheduling is the job of a field service tool, not an accounting tool.

Think of it this way. Jobber answers "who is going where tomorrow, and did we bill for it?" QuickBooks answers "did we make money this year, and what do I owe in tax?"

Can QuickBooks replace Jobber?

For a solo owner who does a few jobs a week, sometimes yes. Check QuickBooks' own site for what it covers on estimates, invoices and payments. If you have no crew, no recurring visits and no need for a calendar, that may be enough.

It gets hard when you add any of these:

  • A second person on the road: You need a shared schedule and a way to tell them where to go.
  • Repeat work: Weekly lawn visits or monthly service need recurring jobs, not recurring invoices alone.
  • Quote follow-up: Jobber's Connect plan sends automatic quote and invoice follow-ups.
  • Job costing: Seeing profit on each job needs the job and its costs in one place. Jobber has this on its Grow plan.

Can Jobber replace QuickBooks? Almost never. Jobber has built-in reports, but its job is the work, not the books. Bank reconciliation and tax prep are not among the features on its pricing page. That is why the Connect plan includes a sync with QuickBooks Online.

What do they cost?

QuickBooks Online lists a free plan and four paid plans, as of November 2026: Simple Start at $38 a month for 1 user, Essentials at $85 for 3 users, Plus at $140 for 5 users and Advanced at $340 for 25 users. Intuit, the company behind QuickBooks, shows half-price offers for the first three months, so the first bills can be lower than these regular prices. Jobber's plans are listed below, from its pricing page as of November 2026.

PlanPaid monthlyPaid yearly (per month)Users
Jobber Core$49$291
Jobber Connect (adds QuickBooks Online sync)$139$991
Jobber Grow (adds job costing)$199$1491

The catch: the sync is not on the cheapest plan. If you buy Core and later want it, that is a step up of $70 a month on yearly billing. My guide to Jobber pricing shows the bill at larger team sizes.

What about Housecall Pro, Service Fusion and Wave?

Housecall Pro is another field service tool, close to Jobber. Its QuickBooks Online sync is on the Essentials plan, $149 a month on yearly billing, which includes 5 users. Basic, at $59 a month yearly, does not list it. See my Jobber vs Housecall Pro comparison.

Service Fusion is another field service software subscription, with Starter, Plus and Pro plans. Its pricing page lists QuickBooks Integration under Starter, and Plus and Pro build on Starter. Starter is $208 a month, Plus is $325 and Pro is $533 on yearly billing, as of November 2026, and every plan has unlimited users.

Wave is a free-to-start accounting and invoicing tool. Its Starter plan is $0 a month, and Pro is $19 a month or $190 a year. Card payments on Starter cost 2.9% plus $0.60 per transaction. Wave is a cheaper stand-in for QuickBooks, not for Jobber. It will not schedule a crew. If you are weighing it against other accounting tools, see my QuickBooks alternatives guide. On a cheaper route, Joist, a quoting and invoicing app, lists a QuickBooks sync in its feature table, so check which plan includes it.

Why do you end up with two sets of numbers?

When you run both, every invoice exists twice. If the two drift, your reports disagree. Here is a made-up example to show how:

  • Jobber says you invoiced $48,000 in October.
  • QuickBooks says revenue was $41,500.
  • The gap is $6,500. Three invoices ($3,100) failed to sync. A deposit of $2,400 was booked as income in October in one tool and November in the other. Card fees of $1,000 hit QuickBooks as an expense but never showed in Jobber.

Neither number is wrong. They count different things. The fix is to decide which tool is the boss for which question:

  • Jobber is the boss for: jobs, quotes, invoices sent, who is booked.
  • QuickBooks is the boss for: money in the bank, expenses, tax, profit and loss.

I cover the specific mismatches in why Jobber and QuickBooks numbers disagree, and the setup steps in the Jobber QuickBooks integration guide.

How do you get one set of numbers?

  1. Turn on the sync early. Start it on day one so you never have to clean up a year of double entry.
  2. Pick one place to create invoices. Make them in the field service tool, never by hand in QuickBooks too.
  3. Record payments in one place. Take card payments in the field tool so the sync carries them over.
  4. Do a weekly check. Compare invoices sent against invoices in QuickBooks. Fix failed syncs the same week.
  5. Build one page you read. Jobs booked, invoiced, paid, and cash in the bank, on one page. Even a spreadsheet works.

If your invoicing is the weak spot, my guide to an invoicing app for contractors compares the simple options.

Need something completely custom?

Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes none of these fit, and what you need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. How I'd approach this

If you have a crew, I would not try to pick one. I would run a field service tool for the work and QuickBooks or a similar tool for the books, and make the sync the first thing I set up.

If you work alone and only send a few invoices a month, start with accounting software only. Move to Jobber the day you hire someone or start booking repeat visits.

The real cost is not the monthly fee. It is the hour a week you lose chasing a number that two tools report differently. Pick the boss tool for each question, check the sync weekly, and read one page of numbers, not two. For the wider picture, see the tool stack for a field service business.

Questions people ask

Can I use QuickBooks instead of Jobber?

Only if you work alone with simple jobs. Accounting software handles the books, while a field service tool handles crew schedules, recurring visits and automatic quote follow-ups. Once you add staff, a field service tool saves real time.

Does Jobber work with QuickBooks?

Yes. Jobber syncs with QuickBooks Online on its Connect plan and above, $99 a month on yearly billing as of November 2026. Core, at $29 a month yearly, does not list it. Setup steps are in my Jobber QuickBooks integration guide.

Does Housecall Pro sync with QuickBooks?

Housecall Pro lists a QuickBooks Online sync on its Essentials plan, $149 a month on yearly billing, and above. Check its pricing page for the current plan details.

Does Service Fusion work with QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Service Fusion's pricing page lists QuickBooks Integration under its Starter plan, and Plus and Pro build on Starter. Starter is $208 a month on yearly billing, as of November 2026.

Is Wave a good replacement for QuickBooks?

For a very small service business, it can be. Wave Starter costs $0 a month, and Pro is $19 a month. It handles invoices and bookkeeping but does not schedule jobs, so you would still pair it with a field service tool if you have a crew.

Why do my Jobber and QuickBooks totals not match?

Usually failed syncs, deposits counted in different months, and fees that only one tool sees. The causes and fixes are in my guide to Jobber and QuickBooks reporting.
