What software should my junk removal business use?
Short answer: Most junk removal companies start on Jobber, a job, quote and invoice tool for service trades that costs $29 a month for one user on annual billing as of November 2026. Housecall Pro, a similar all-in-one tool, starts at $59 a month. Both handle online requests, quotes, scheduling and payments. The thing that makes junk removal different is pricing a pile from a photo, so check whether a tool does that. If not, that is where a custom quote tool can pay off.
You haul junk for a living and want to know which app handles the booking, the quote, the crew schedule and the payment without a pile of spreadsheets.

What does a junk removal business need from software?
Junk removal is part trades business, part moving business. The software has to cover the paperwork, and it also has to cope with a few quirks.
- Fast quotes: customers want a price today, often before you have seen the pile.
- Online booking: people search at night and book the first company that lets them pick a time.
- Photos: the customer's photos of the pile become your quote, and your photos of the finished job become your proof.
- Crew scheduling and routing: trucks, dump runs and same-day jobs.
- Payment on the spot: card, phone pay or bank payment when the truck is loaded, plus deposits for big jobs.
- Customer history: who called last year, what they had, what you charged.

Jobber
Jobber has a junk removal page of its own. It lists online booking from your website or social pages, branded quotes customers can approve online, a client portal where customers can approve estimates and pay, and customer communication tools. Plans on annual billing are Core at $29, Connect at $99 and Grow at $149 a month for one user, with prices rising by team size. The Connect plan adds automated quote and invoice follow-ups, and Grow adds job costing and two-way texting. Its Receptionist add-on, an AI that answers calls and texts, is $29 a month. See my Jobber pricing breakdown for what a real crew costs.
Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro's Basic plan is $59 a month for one user on annual billing. Essentials is $149 for 5 users, and MAX is $299 for 8 users, with $35 a month for each extra user. Routes come with Essentials, and one-click route optimization comes with MAX. Card processing starts at 2.59 percent. See my Housecall Pro pricing breakdown.
Workiz
Workiz sells Standard, Pro and Ultimate plans, but its pricing page asks you to request a price. It also sells an integrated phone system and AI call answering as separate add-ons. A phone-first tool suits junk removal, since many customers call after seeing a truck on the street. My Workiz vs Jobber comparison goes deeper.
Method and Joist
Method is for owners who run their books in QuickBooks and want the customer data to match. Joist is a simple paperwork app: its Pro plan at $17 a month adds unlimited quotes and clients, and work orders. Its Run plan, listed at $100 a month, adds jobs and scheduling. If you are one person and one truck, it is enough.
Why photo quotes are the real gap
Junk is priced by volume. A customer cannot tell you how many cubic yards their garage holds. So the usual flow is slow: they text photos, you guess a range, you call back, they say yes or shop around.
With most general tools, a customer fills in a request form, you look at their photos and you send a quote after, so check each tool for photo upload on its request form. That works, but a person still has to read every photo and type a price. Here is a made-up example. A company gets 40 requests a week. Each takes 8 minutes to read, price and send. That is over 5 hours a week of quoting, and many of the quotes go to people who were only comparing.
A custom photo quote tool changes the order. The customer uploads photos on your site. The tool estimates the load size and shows a price range, such as a quarter truck or half truck, then lets the customer book a time slot right there. You review the odd ones and let the clear ones through. The AI part is a guess at volume from a photo, and a human still checks anything that looks unusual, like hazardous items or stairs. For the plain version of this idea, see my guide to instant quote software, and for a free starting point, how to add a quote request form to your website.
What about routing and dispatch?
Junk routes are not like a lawn route. Jobs are one-off, durations vary, and the truck has to visit a dump or transfer station when it fills up. Jobber has a route optimization feature that builds routes for a crew and lets you re-optimize when there is a delay, cancellation or new job. Housecall Pro's MAX plan lists route optimization based on real drive time and live traffic. Neither one plans the dump stop for you, so you still decide when the truck is full. If you need a dedicated route tool, my guide to route optimization software compares the options.
What does it really cost?
A made-up example: a two-truck company with 5 people. Housecall Pro Essentials covers 5 users for $149 a month on annual billing, or $189 month to month. Jobber's price depends on its team-size selector, so enter your headcount on its pricing page to get a number. Add card processing fees, which are a percent of each payment on every tool. Add a texting or call add-on if you want one. Start with the base plan, then add only what you miss after two months.
How I'd approach this
If you are under three trucks, pick Jobber or Housecall Pro and use the free trial on real jobs for two weeks. Both have free trials with no card needed, and Housecall Pro's trial gives you the top plan, so you see what you would be paying for. Pick the one your crew finds easy in the truck.
Keep the quote form on your website, with photo upload, from day one. Then count how long you spend quoting. If it is more than a few hours a week, that is the sign a custom photo quote and booking page would pay for itself. Build it as a layer on top of the tool you already use. Do not replace the whole system for it. Read my field service tool stack guide if you are choosing more than one app, and field service management software for the general version of this decision.
Questions people ask
What is the best software for a junk removal business?
Jobber and Housecall Pro are the common starting points, since both cover quotes, scheduling, invoicing and payments. The best one is the one your crew will actually use in the truck, so try both on real jobs. See my Jobber vs Housecall Pro comparison.
Is there a free app for a junk removal business?
Jobber, Housecall Pro, Method and Joist all offer free trials, not free plans. Housecall Pro and Joist offer 14-day trials and Method offers 10 days, none needing a card. Jobber also lets you try it free with no card. Check each pricing page for the current trial length.
Can software price a junk removal job from photos?
With the common tools, you typically look at the customer's photos and price the job by hand, so check each tool's request form for photo upload. A custom tool can estimate load size from photos and show a price range, with you checking unusual jobs. See my guide to quote generators.
Do I need route optimization for junk removal?
Not at first. With one or two trucks, a good calendar is enough. Once you run several crews across a wide area, route tools save drive time. Jobber and Housecall Pro MAX both list route optimization.
How much should I budget for junk removal software?
A solo operator can start at $29 to $59 a month as of November 2026. A crew of 5 is closer to $149 to $299 a month, before card fees. Add-ons like call answering cost extra.
