Freepik (now Magnific) alternatives: stock plus AI subscriptions compared
Short answer: Freepik is a graphics site known for stock photos, vectors and templates, with AI tools added. Its pricing page now redirects to Magnific, so Magnific is the name you will buy under. Pick an alternative by what you download or generate most each week: stock files (Envato), AI images or video (Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Higgsfield), or templates plus a little AI (Canva). Prices below are vendor figures as of 4 November 2026, some in euros, so check each page.
You searched for Freepik and the pricing page showed a different name and a different currency. That is the first thing to sort out before you compare anything.
I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.
This page lists alternatives to the Freepik AI and stock subscription, now sold as Magnific, and helps you choose by the work you do. It is not a list of every image tool. It covers the ones that compete for the same budget: a stock library with AI added, or an AI generator you might use instead of buying stock.
One option is Higgsfield, a web platform that hosts many AI image and video models. I earn a commission if you buy through my link, and I say below where it is the wrong pick.

Freepik is now Magnific: what changed
On 4 November 2026 the old freepik.com pricing address redirected to magnific.com/pricing, and the page describes Magnific as "formerly Freepik". Secondary sources agree on a rebrand and give 28 April 2026 as the date; treat that date as reported, not confirmed. Two things follow.
- The plans and prices live on the Magnific page. The old Freepik plan names and prices that older blog posts quote have been replaced, so they are not repeated here.
- People still say Freepik. If a client says "we have a Freepik account", ask which plan, and whether the licence and credits belong to a team.
I already compare Magnific with one platform in Higgsfield vs the Freepik AI suite. This page is wider: it asks which kind of tool you need.
Quick answer: pick by what you buy most
- Mostly stock files (photos, vectors, templates, fonts, music): Envato Elements, or stay on Magnific.
- Mostly AI images for ads: Midjourney, Adobe Firefly or Magnific, depending on licence needs.
- Mostly short video: a video-first platform such as Higgsfield or Runway.
- Social graphics with a little AI and team brand control: Canva.
The options and their published prices
| Tool | What it is | Price (vendor page, November 2026) | Credits or allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnific (ex-Freepik) | Stock library plus AI generation and upscaling | Premium 12 euros a month billed annually (16 monthly), Premium+ 27 (36), Pro Starter 66 (88), euros excluding VAT | 240,000, 600,000 and 1.5 million credits a year (Pro Starter also lists a 4 million tier); credits valid 1 year |
| Envato Elements | Subscription stock site for video, music, templates, fonts and photos, with some AI tools | Core from $16.50 a month, Plus from $39, Ultimate from $168 (USD, excluding tax) | 20 AI credits on Core, 200 on Plus |
| Canva | Online design tool with templates and some AI | Free, Pro and Business; prices show in local currency, so check your own (an Indian rupee view showed Pro at 4,000 a year and Business at 6,800 a year per person) | A shared monthly AI allowance that varies by plan; AI Pass add-on |
| Adobe Firefly | Adobe's AI image and video generator, part of Creative Cloud | Prices show in local currency, so check your own | Monthly credits that reset and do not roll over |
| Midjourney | An AI image generator run from a web app, known for style | Basic $10, Standard $30, Pro $60, Mega $120 a month; 20 percent off billed annually (Basic $8 a month), per its help page | Basic 3.3 fast GPU hours a month; Standard and up add unlimited image generation in Relax mode |
| Leonardo | An AI image platform with model choice and editing tools | Reports of $12, $30 and $60 monthly plans; unconfirmed, so check the vendor page | Check the vendor page |
| Runway | An AI video generator and editor | Standard $15 a month ($12 billed annually), Pro $35 ($28), Max $95 ($76) | 625, 2,250 and 9,500 credits a month; Runway says 625 credits is 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 |
| Higgsfield | AI image and video models in one place, plus film and ad tools | Starter $19, Plus $59 ($47 annual), Ultra $129 ($99 annual), per month; check the pricing page | 270, 1,200 and 3,000 credits a month |
Do not mix currencies in your head: Magnific shows euros, Envato and Canva show dollars. For a US buyer, confirm the dollar price at checkout.
Stock-first alternatives
Envato Elements is the closest match if the stock library is half of why you pay. Its page promises a lifetime commercial licence for stock assets and AI generations, and its AI credits are small (20 a month on Core), so it is a stock site first. Where it wins: broad asset types and clear project licensing. Where it does not: heavy AI image or video generation.
Canva wins on templates and brand control. Its pricing page lists Free, Pro and Business, with a shared monthly AI allowance that varies by plan and an AI Pass add-on, and prices show in local currency, so check your own. Its pricing page has no commercial-use section, so check Canva's terms before using generated output in a client ad. See Higgsfield vs Canva and CapCut for the editor-versus-generator view.
AI-image-first alternatives
Midjourney is widely used for image style. Its help page lists Basic at $10 a month, with Standard, Pro and Mega above it, and says a company with more than $1,000,000 a year in gross revenue must buy Pro or Mega. Read its terms before client work. Adobe Firefly matters when licence safety and Creative Cloud matter: its page says outputs are commercially safe and that IP indemnification (a promise to cover legal costs if a use is challenged) is offered to eligible enterprise customers on select outputs. Leonardo is a middle option with model choice. For a rights-checked ranking, see best AI image generators for business.
Other names that come up
Roundups also list Ideogram and Krea (AI image tools; see Higgsfield vs Krea), Recraft (AI images and vectors), Stable Diffusion (free software you run yourself, with licence conditions for larger companies), Shutterstock and Adobe Stock (paid stock libraries), and Pexels (free stock). Check each vendor for current prices. Free stock and free plans often ask for attribution, so check the credit rule before you publish. None of the roundups mentions the Magnific rename, so their plan names and prices may be out of date.
Video and upscale options
Magnific's page lists video models and upscaling, which is why people see it as an all-in-one. Runway focuses on video generation and editing. Higgsfield focuses on video and image models with film-style tools. If still images are 90 percent of your work, none of these video features should decide your purchase. See upscaling AI video if enlarging is your main job.
Credit math: cost per image and per clip
Credits are a unit of spend, and each image or clip uses some. The sums below use figures Magnific prints, with the arithmetic shown so you can replace the model. They are illustrations, not quotes, and ignore VAT and failed attempts.
| Item on Magnific (vendor page) | Credits each | How many a year on Premium (240,000) | Approx. cost each at 144 euros a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano Banana 2 image, 2K | 75 | about 3,200 | about 0.045 euro |
| Magnific One High, 2K | 180 | about 1,333 | about 0.11 euro |
| Kling 2.5 clip, 720p, 5 s | 140 | about 1,714 | about 0.084 euro |
The formula: annual price divided by annual credits, times credits per item. Nano Banana is Google's image model, and Kling is a video model from Kuaishou; Magnific offers both.
For the same kind of sum on Higgsfield, its pricing page lists Kling 3.0 at about 7 credits for a 720p clip of about 5 seconds. On Plus billed annually ($47 for 1,200 credits) that is about $0.27 per clip. The versions and resolutions are not identical to the Magnific row, so this shows the method, not a winner. Higgsfield does not print credit prices for several of its newest tools, and the cost shows on the Generate button. Higgsfield subscription credits also expire at the end of each billing cycle, while Magnific credits are valid for a year, which favours lumpy work.
One more caution on "unlimited": both Magnific and Higgsfield mark some models as unlimited on some plans. Check which models, on which plan, and the fair-use rules, before you count any model as free.
What Higgsfield does for this job
If your deliverable is AI image or video and not stock, here is what Higgsfield offers, from its own pages.
- Many models, one credit pool. Image models such as Nano Banana, Seedream and GPT Image sit beside video models such as Kling, Seedance, Veo and Wan, so you can test the same brief across them.
- Tools around the models. Soul 2.0 for images with a style, Soul ID to keep one character across images, Cinema Studio for film-style shots and Marketing Studio for ads.
- Team workspaces. Team and Scale plans share one workspace and one credit pool across seats.
It does not have a stock library, vector files or editable templates. That is the point of this page: Higgsfield replaces the AI half of a Freepik subscription, not the stock half.
Try Higgsfield with a discount
I use Higgsfield a lot and I love it, which is why I partnered with them to bring you a discount. Get started through this link and you can get up to 50% off for the first 3 hours after you log in. The size of the discount and the plans it covers can vary, so check the offer on screen.
Licence and indemnity compared
Information, not legal advice. Check local law and each vendor's current terms before client use.
- Magnific: the page lists a commercial AI licence on its paid plans and says there is no model training on your data. The page shows no indemnity wording.
- Adobe Firefly: IP indemnification only for eligible enterprise customers on select outputs, per its page.
- Canva: its pricing page has no commercial-use or indemnity section, so ask before client use.
- Midjourney: general commercial terms on every plan, with Pro or Mega required for companies above $1,000,000 a year in revenue, per its help page.
- Envato: a lifetime commercial licence for stock assets and AI generations, per its page, and custom licensing with indemnification only on Enterprise. Read its terms on how licences attach to projects.
- Higgsfield: the pricing table marks commercial use "Not included" for Free while the help center says commercial rights are not tied to a plan; free output is watermarked, so client work belongs on a paid plan. Higgsfield may train on content outside Enterprise agreements, and its terms make you indemnify Higgsfield, not the reverse. See what to ask about training on client work.
For agencies, indemnity is often the real difference. Never write that any tool is "safe to use commercially everywhere" in a contract. See the rights checklist for AI video in paid ads.
Who should stay on Magnific
- You use stock files and AI images in the same week.
- Your work comes in bursts, so credits that last a year suit you.
- You want the lowest entry price: 12 euros a month billed annually.
- You use its upscaling tools.
Who should skip Higgsfield for this job
- You download stock photos, vectors or templates more than you generate.
- You need a contract line that no content trains any model, and you are not on an Enterprise agreement.
- Your work is bursty, since Higgsfield subscription credits expire each cycle.
- You want a design tool for layouts and print.
- Your main goal is the lowest entry price.
Pick by need
| If your week looks like this | Lean toward | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Download stock and edit templates | Envato Elements or Canva | Clear stock licensing, templates |
| Stock plus AI images, bursty | Magnific | One plan, credits valid a year |
| AI images only, licence matters | Adobe Firefly | Indemnity for eligible enterprise customers |
| Style-led AI images | Midjourney, after checking terms | Image look |
| Short AI video and characters | Higgsfield or Runway, after a test | Video-first tools |
| Occasional use | A free plan first | Avoid paying for a pool you will not use |
For the wider question, see all-in-one platform versus separate tools.
How I'd approach this
I would count what was downloaded and what was generated in the last month, then buy only for the larger half. If the larger half is AI video, I would test Higgsfield with one real brief and compare credits per approved result against Magnific for the same brief. If the larger half is stock, I would keep Magnific or move to Envato, and keep a free AI tool on the side. Record which licence covers each asset in each client project. Blur Studio can build a shared asset library and approval step around whichever tools you choose; see what we build.
Questions people ask
Is Freepik now Magnific?
On 4 November 2026 the old Freepik pricing address redirected to Magnific's pricing page, which says "formerly Freepik". Secondary sources give 28 April 2026 as the rebrand date. Confirm on the vendor page.
Is Magnific cheaper than Midjourney?
Not on the entry price alone. Magnific's annual entry plan is 12 euros a month, and Midjourney's Basic is $10 a month ($8 billed annually), in different currencies and with different units (credits versus GPU hours). Compare cost per approved image on your own brief.
Can I use AI images commercially?
Information, not legal advice: it depends on the tool, plan and terms. Magnific lists a commercial AI licence on paid plans, and Adobe offers indemnity only to eligible enterprise customers. See the rights checklist.
Do credits expire?
Magnific credits are valid for one year, per its page. Adobe Firefly monthly credits reset and do not roll over. Higgsfield subscription credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. See how to spend Higgsfield credits wisely.
What is the best free alternative?
Start with the free plans of Canva and Runway (125 one-time credits), but expect limits. Higgsfield free output is watermarked. See free AI video generators.
Do I need stock if I have AI?
Often yes. Stock is useful for real people, real places and logos that AI gets wrong. See AI video vs stock footage vs filming yourself.
Is Higgsfield a Freepik replacement?
Only for the AI half. It has no stock library. If you also need stock, keep Magnific or add Envato. See Higgsfield vs Freepik.
