Higgsfield vs Freepik AI Suite: plans, credits and cost per clip

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 11 min read

Short answer: Freepik is a graphics site known for stock photos, vectors and templates, with an AI suite added. Its pricing page now sends you to Magnific, so the plans you compare are Magnific's. Higgsfield is a web platform that hosts many AI image and video models plus its own film and ad tools. If you also need stock files and templates, or want credits that last a year, Magnific is the better fit. If AI video is the main job, Higgsfield is built around it. Prices below are vendor figures as of November 2026 and Magnific shows euros, so check both pricing pages.

Ranjit Bhinge

Many buyers still type Freepik, but the pricing page now lands on a different name and a different currency. Before you compare two AI subscriptions, you need to know what you are actually comparing.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

This page compares Higgsfield, a platform that gives you many AI image and video models from one login, with the Freepik AI suite, which is now sold under the Magnific name. I stay with what the vendors print on their own pages, and I label anything else as a report.

One limit: neither company publishes a neutral head-to-head quality test, and the third-party comparison pages are written by vendors or directories. So this page compares plans, credits, licences and jobs, not "which output looks better".

The short answer

Choose by the job, not the logo. If your work needs stock photos, vectors and templates next to AI generation, and you like credits that do not vanish each month, Magnific (the new home of the Freepik plans) fits better and its entry plan is cheaper. If most of your AI work is video and you want film-style tools, character tools and many video models in one place, Higgsfield fits better. If you only make the occasional AI image, you may not need either, and a free option can be enough for a test.

Freepik is now Magnific: what that means for your search

On 4 November 2026, the old freepik.com/pricing address redirected to magnific.com/pricing, and the page showed euro prices. The page title reads "Pricing plans | Magnific (formerly Freepik)", so the vendor itself says this is the renamed Freepik. I still cannot see the company's internal plans, so check the vendor page before you buy. Two things follow.

  • Plan names and prices live on the Magnific page. Reviews that quote dollar prices may be out of date or may show a US view of the page. A July 2026 blog post gave dollar figures that did not match the euro figures on the vendor page, so I do not repeat them. If you are in the US, confirm the price in your own currency at checkout.
  • Searchers and clients still say Freepik. If a client says "we have a Freepik account", find out which plan it is on and whether it is a team plan, because the licence and the credits depend on it.

What each platform is for

Freepik and Magnific: a creative platform that mixes a large library of stock files (photos, vectors, templates) with AI generation, editing tools and, on some plans, music rights. The pitch is one subscription for the assets you download and the assets you generate. The page also lists Spaces (a shared canvas for chaining steps), an API with credit-based usage, a ComfyUI plugin, and a "no model training on your data" line on its plan cards. Comparison pages written before the rebrand quote older plan names and dollar prices, so ignore them for budgeting.

Higgsfield: a web platform focused on AI generation. It hosts image models such as Nano Banana (Google's image model), Seedream (ByteDance), GPT Image (OpenAI), and video models such as Kling (a video model from Kuaishou), Seedance (ByteDance), Veo (Google) and Wan. It adds its own tools: Soul 2.0 for images with a style, Soul ID for a saved character, Cinema Studio for film-style shots, and Marketing Studio for ads. It does not include a stock library.

Both resell access to many of the same big outside models. So the difference is rarely "who has the best model". It is the wrapper: stock library, credit rules, licence terms and the tools around the models.

Plans and credits, side by side

A credit is a unit of spend: each image or clip uses a number of credits, and plans give you a pool. Credits are not the same size on each platform, so never compare the raw numbers.

Magnific prices exclude VAT and are in euros on the vendor page. Higgsfield prices are in dollars as of November 2026, and the pricing page changes often, so check the plan breakdown and the live page. Higgsfield does not publish prices for its credit packs, so I do not state them.

The credit-life row matters more than it looks. On Higgsfield, a quiet month wastes that month's subscription credits. On Magnific, a quiet month leaves credits in the pool. If your video work comes in bursts around campaigns, that favours Magnific. If you generate steadily every week, it matters less.

What "unlimited" covers

Both platforms use the word, and in both cases it has limits.

  • Magnific: on the vendor page on 4 November 2026, Premium+ is labelled "unlimited generations" and the Pro Starter card names Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Pro as unlimited, but in the price table "unlimited" is tagged on individual models only (for example Nano Banana 2 at 1K and 2K and Kling 2.5 at 720p), while Seedance 2.5, Kling 3.0 Pro and Veo 3.1 carry a credit cost. An independent solo blog (written by someone who runs an agency) reports that only about ten image models are unlimited and only on the higher plans, that video and audio always use credits, and that credit rules were tightened in April 2026. Treat that as a report, and confirm the model list on the live page for the model you need.
  • Higgsfield: its help center says unlimited runs on the web only, needs an active subscription, runs in the standard queue, is for personal human use (automation and reselling are not allowed), and is not available through its connectors or command-line tools. Promotions change often, so I do not describe any current one.

The practical rule: write down the three models you will actually use, then check whether each is unlimited, credit-based, or not included on the plan you plan to buy.

What Higgsfield does for a video job

If your deliverable is video, here is what Higgsfield adds beyond a model menu, all from its own pages.

  • Film-style control. Cinema Studio 4.0 runs on Seedance 2.5, lets you set genre, era, camera and lighting, accepts up to 50 reference files, and makes clips up to 30 seconds at up to 1080p, with audio.
  • A saved character. Soul ID trains on 20 or more photos so the same face can appear across images. Results depend on your photos, so I would not promise a client perfect consistency.
  • Ad and motion tools. Marketing Studio and a Click to Ad app (listed on its apps page) turn product links into ad drafts, and motion transfer reuses movement from a reference video.
  • Team workspaces. Team and Scale share one workspace and one credit pool across seats, which suits a small agency.

None of this makes Higgsfield a design tool. It will not give you a vector logo library, a template, or a stock photo of a handshake. Cost per clip for the newest tools is not printed on the pricing page (the cost shows on the Generate button), so run a small test before you commit credits.

Cost per clip: the math from the vendor tables

The only fair way to compare is cost per finished clip. Magnific prints credit costs per clip. Higgsfield prints credit costs for some models and not for others. The numbers below are illustrative arithmetic, not a quote, and they assume you spend every credit on that one clip type and ignore VAT and failed attempts.

Magnific clip (vendor page)CreditsClips a year on Premium (240,000)Approx. cost at Premium annual price
Seedance 2.5, 720p, 4 s1,760about 136about 1.06 euros
Seedance 2.5, 1080p, 4 s4,400about 54about 2.64 euros
Kling 3.0 Pro, 1080p, 5 s450about 533about 0.27 euros
Veo 3.1, 4K with audio, 4 s2,080about 115about 1.25 euros

The euro column is the Premium annual price (12 euros a month, so 144 euros a year) divided by 240,000 credits, then multiplied by the clip's credits.

Higgsfield clip (vendor page)CreditsCost on Plus annual ($47 for 1,200)Cost on Plus monthly ($59)
Kling 3.0, 720p, about 5 sabout 7about $0.27about $0.34
Veo 3.1 Fast, about 4 sabout 16about $0.63about $0.79
Seedance 2.0, 720p, about 5 sabout 22about $0.86about $1.08

What this shows, with the limits stated: for a Kling clip the two platforms land close together, but the resolutions differ (1080p on Magnific, 720p on Higgsfield), the currencies differ, and VAT is not included on Magnific. The Seedance rows are not like for like, because Magnific lists Seedance 2.5 and Higgsfield prints Seedance 2.0. Higgsfield does not print a Seedance 2.5 credit cost, so no figure is given here. Also, Higgsfield credits not used in the month are lost, while unused Magnific credits stay for the year, which changes the real cost for anyone who does not spend the whole pool.

Licence and rights

Information, not legal advice. Check local law and each platform's current terms before you use output in a client deliverable.

  • Magnific: the vendor page lists a commercial AI licence on Premium, and music rights on Premium+ and Pro Starter. The wording on stock files versus generated files, and on indemnity, can differ by plan, so ask support for the exact wording if a client contract depends on it.
  • Higgsfield: the pricing table marks commercial use "Not included" for Free, while the help center says the terms do not tie commercial rights to a plan. Free output is watermarked, so client work belongs on a paid plan. Higgsfield may train on content unless you are on an Enterprise agreement, and its terms make the user indemnify Higgsfield rather than the other way round. See what to ask about training on client work.

Never write "safe to use commercially everywhere" in a client contract about AI output on either platform. See the rights checklist for AI video in paid ads.

Where Magnific (Freepik) is the better pick

  • You need stock files and AI together. A library of photos, vectors and templates beside the generator is something Higgsfield does not offer.
  • You want credits that last. A one-year credit life suits seasonal work.
  • You want the cheaper way in. 12 euros a month billed annually is below Higgsfield's $19 Starter, though the two plans buy different things.
  • You mostly make still images and graphics. A design-led workflow with templates is easier here.

A test plan you can run in one afternoon

  1. Write one brief: a 5 second product clip and one still image in your client's style.
  2. Run the same brief on a paid month of each platform, or on whichever plan lets you try the models you named.
  3. Count credits used until you have one result your client would accept. Write down attempts, not just the final one.
  4. Convert credits to money using the plan price you would actually buy.

Pass: one accepted result in three attempts or fewer, at a cost you can fit in your margin. Fail: more than five attempts, a watermark or licence surprise, or a missing model. A platform that fails twice on your real brief is the wrong one, whatever its homepage says.

Who should skip Higgsfield

  • You need stock photos, vectors or templates more than generated video.
  • You work in bursts and cannot use a monthly credit pool.
  • Your clients require a contract that says no content trains any model, and you are not on an Enterprise agreement.
  • You want a design tool for layouts and print, not a generator.
  • Your main budget goal is the lowest entry price.

If three of those fit, Magnific, or a stock site plus a separate generator, probably serves you better. See Freepik (Magnific) alternatives for other stock-plus-AI options.

How I'd approach this

I would not pick on price alone. I would list the three deliverables I make most, write down which models and licence terms each needs, and run the test above on both platforms with a real brief. If stock files are half of your work, start with Magnific. If video is most of it, try Higgsfield's plans and measure cost per approved clip before choosing Plus or Team. Keep a simple sheet of credits used per client so the cost does not hide inside your margin. Blur Studio can build the repeatable workflow, approval portal or shared asset library around whichever tools you pick; see how that works.

Questions people ask

Is Freepik the same as Magnific?

The old Freepik pricing address redirected to Magnific's pricing page as of 4 November 2026, and the page title reads "Magnific (formerly Freepik)", so yes, it is the renamed Freepik. Confirm plan details on the vendor page.

Is Freepik AI unlimited?

Only on a list of models. The vendor page marks unlimited on listed models, and one independent blog reports that video and audio always use credits. Check the model list for the models you use.

Which is cheaper for video?

It depends on the model, resolution and currency. For a Kling clip the two come out close in my arithmetic above, but the inputs are not identical. Run the test plan with your own brief. See also Higgsfield pricing explained.

Does Freepik include a stock licence with AI?

Magnific lists a commercial AI licence on its Premium plan. The wording on stock files can differ by plan, so ask the vendor if a contract depends on it.

Can I use Freepik or Higgsfield output commercially?

Information, not legal advice: both have paid-plan licence terms, and Higgsfield's pricing table and help center differ on the Free plan. Free output is watermarked, so use a paid plan for client work and read the terms. See the rights checklist.

Do credits expire?

Magnific credits last one year with no monthly reset, per its pricing page. Higgsfield subscription credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, while top-up credits last 90 days. See free versus paid for what changes on upgrade.

Do I need both?

Usually not. If you need stock files, start with Magnific. If AI video is the work, start with Higgsfield. Paying for both only makes sense when each does a job the other cannot.
