How well does Zoho Inventory connect to Shopify and Amazon?
Short answer: Zoho Inventory, a software subscription that tracks stock, purchases and orders for small sellers, has a built-in connection to Shopify and to Amazon. It syncs items, sales orders, stock counts and shipment updates, and for Shopify it also adds new customers as contacts. The limits to watch are the monthly order cap on your plan, how often items sync, and API call limits if you build anything custom. For two or three channels with ordinary products it is a solid fit. For odd rules, bundles or fast-moving stock you will likely need a small add-on layer.
You are thinking of putting Zoho Inventory between Shopify and Amazon and want to know what really syncs, where it stops, and what to do about the gaps.
I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.
What the connection does
Zoho Inventory is a stock and order management tool. You connect your sales channels to it, and it becomes the place that holds the master count of what you own. Zoho's own pages for each channel list what syncs.
| What syncs | Shopify | Amazon |
|---|---|---|
| Items | Synced when items are created in Shopify, matched by SKU or item name | Synced by SKU when created, with an initial manual sync to fetch items between scheduled syncs |
| Sales orders | Synced into Zoho. You choose "confirmed" or "confirmed and fulfilled" | Synced into Zoho. You choose confirmed only, or confirmed and fulfilled |
| Stock counts | Stock on hand pushed to all channels after each order | Stock on hand pushed to all channels after each order |
| Shipments | Shipment created in Zoho shows in Shopify | Shipment tracking sent to Amazon |
| Customers | New buyers added as contacts in Zoho | Not listed on Zoho's Amazon page |
A SKU is the code you give each product, such as TS-BLK-M for a black medium t-shirt. SKU matching is the part to get right before anything else, because it decides which Shopify product is the same thing as which Amazon listing.
Zoho's Amazon page also says Zoho Inventory is "FBA ready". FBA, or Fulfillment by Amazon, means Amazon stores and ships your goods for you. Zoho says you can ship items to FBA warehouses, mark items as FBA, link FBA items with items you ship yourself, and fulfill an order from another channel through FBA from inside Zoho.
Setup steps
Zoho walks you through the connection inside the app, so I will not copy menu paths that may change. The order of work is what matters:
- Clean your SKUs first. Each product needs one unique SKU on Shopify and the same SKU on Amazon. Duplicates and blanks are the number one cause of mismatches.
- Pick your master. Decide whether Zoho owns the stock count from day one. I would say yes. If two systems both think they own the count, they fight.
- Connect Shopify, then Amazon. Do one channel at a time so you can see what each did.
- Choose the order status that triggers a sync. "Confirmed" brings orders in earlier. "Confirmed and fulfilled" waits until the order has shipped. Earlier means stock is reserved sooner. I prefer confirmed for fast sellers.
- Run the first item sync and read the result. Check ten products by hand, including one with variants (size or color options).
- Place a test order on each channel. Watch the stock number change in Zoho, then in the other channel.
- Set up low-stock alerts. Check Zoho's feature list for the reorder alerts on your plan, and set them for your top sellers.
The plan limits that bite
Zoho prices by plan, and the plan sets how many orders, users and locations you get. As of November 2026, Zoho's pricing page lists these limits. Zoho shows prices by region, so check zoho.com for the dollar price in your currency.
| Plan | Orders a month | Users | Locations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 50 orders | 1 | 1 |
| Standard | 500 | 3 | 2 |
| Premium | 3,000 | 5 | 4 |
| Plus | 7,500 | 10 | 6 |
| Enterprise | 15,000 | 10 | 10 |
Zoho also sells add-ons for extra users, extra blocks of 500 orders, and extra locations. Features also step up by plan. For example, Zoho lists barcode generation, stock counting, serial and batch tracking and profit margin starting at Premium, and Zoho Analytics at Enterprise.
Worked example with made-up numbers: you sell 250 orders a month on Shopify and 300 on Amazon. That is 550 orders, over the 500 on Standard. You either add a block of 500 orders or move up to Premium. Do this math with your busiest month, not your average one. A November spike can push you over a cap.
The API: what it allows and its limits
An API is a way for one program to talk to another. Zoho Inventory has a REST API (a standard web style of API), and it is the route for a custom connection.
- Per minute: 100 requests per minute per organization. Go over and you get an error and can be blocked for a while.
- Per day: the docs list daily caps that rise with the plan, from 1,000 requests a day on the free plan to 10,000 on the top plans.
- At once: 5 simultaneous calls on the free plan and 10 on paid plans.
These caps matter if you plan to push stock to many channels often. A script that checks every product every minute will hit the daily cap fast. Send only what changed.
Zapier and other routes
Zapier is a tool that links apps without code. It lists Zoho Inventory as an app, and its example zaps cover things like creating items, contacts and sales orders from other apps such as Google Sheets, Square and Jotform. Before you plan around Zapier, open its Zoho Inventory page and check that the exact trigger and action you need are on it. For stock sync across channels, the built-in connection is the better first choice, and the API is the second.
Common problems and fixes
- Items did not match. Almost always SKU. Fix the SKU on one side, then rerun the item sync.
- New Amazon item not showing. Zoho says items sync on a schedule, with a manual sync to pull items in between. Run the manual sync.
- Orders missing. Check which status you chose to sync. If you picked "confirmed and fulfilled", unshipped orders will not appear yet.
- Stock looks wrong on one channel. Check that the location in Zoho maps to the right place, and remember that stock pushes after an order, not constantly.
- Hit the order cap. Add an order block or change plans.
If your problem is on the Shopify and Amazon side rather than in Zoho, see my guide to Shopify and Amazon integration not working.
Where it falls short
Zoho covers the standard path well. Gaps tend to show up in a few places:
- Bundles and kits that sell as one thing on Shopify and three things on Amazon.
- Safety stock per channel. Zoho pushes the stock on hand to all channels. Zoho's channel pages describe pushing the same stock on hand to every channel, not a different number per channel, such as showing TikTok 10 units and Amazon 30 out of 40.
- Your own business rules, such as "never list below a margin" or "hold stock for wholesale first".
- Reports you actually read, mixed from Zoho, ad spend and fees.
Those gaps are where a small custom connection earns its keep. It reads from Zoho's API and applies your rules. If you are still choosing a tool, my Fishbowl Inventory alternatives article (Fishbowl is inventory software built for warehouses and manufacturers) compares Zoho against other options, my guide to multichannel inventory management software covers the wider field, and Cin7 integrations shows how Cin7, a stock system for multichannel sellers, handles the same links.
How I'd approach this
I would start with the built-in connection and not build anything until I had run it for a month. Clean the SKUs first, make Zoho the master count, sync one channel at a time, and run test orders. Watch your order count against the plan cap from week one.
Then list the gaps you actually hit. If it is two or three rules, a small script on the API usually costs less than a more expensive plan. If you find yourself fighting the tool every week, it may be the wrong tool. Either way, you can see what a custom connection from Blur Studio includes.
Questions people ask
Does Zoho Inventory integrate with Shopify?
Yes. Zoho's Shopify page says items, sales orders, stock updates, shipment updates and customer contacts sync between the two. Items match by SKU or item name. See Zoho's Shopify integration page.
Does Zoho Inventory integrate with Amazon, including FBA?
Yes. Zoho syncs items by SKU, sales orders, stock and shipment tracking with Amazon, and says it is FBA ready. You can link FBA items with items you ship yourself. See Zoho's Amazon integration page.
Is there a Zoho Inventory API?
Yes. It is a REST API. Limits include 100 requests per minute per organization and daily caps that rise by plan. Read the API introduction before you design anything.
Can I connect Zoho Inventory with Zapier?
Zapier lists Zoho Inventory as an app. Check its Zoho Inventory page for the exact triggers and actions before you rely on it for stock sync.
What happens when I pass my monthly order limit?
Each plan has an order cap, from 50 on the free plan to 15,000 on Enterprise. Zoho sells add-on blocks of 500 orders, or you can move up a plan. Check Zoho's pricing page for the current price in your currency.
Is Zoho Inventory better than Shopify's own inventory?
It depends on how many channels you sell on. Shopify, the online store platform, lists up to 10 inventory locations on its main plans. Zoho adds a master count across Shopify, Amazon and more. My Zoho Inventory vs Shopify article goes deeper.
