HubSpot alternatives: which CRM to pick when HubSpot stops fitting

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 6 min read

Short answer: The main HubSpot alternatives are Pipedrive for simple sales pipelines, Salesforce for teams that need deep customizing, GoHighLevel for marketing agencies, and Freshsales for low-cost sales teams. Most people switch because HubSpot's Professional plans cost far more than Starter, at $90 to $100 per seat a month plus a $1,500 onboarding fee as of October 2026.

You've hit the price jump from HubSpot's Starter plan to Professional and want to know what actually compares on cost and fit.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

Why do people look for a HubSpot alternative?

The most common reason is the step up in price between plans. HubSpot's pricing pages show it clearly.

  • The free plan has limits: It covers up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, with HubSpot branding on some features.
  • Starter is low cost: Sales Hub Starter is listed at $7 to $20 per seat per month, depending on how you pay.
  • Professional is a big jump: Sales Hub Professional costs $90 to $100 per seat per month. It also has a one-time onboarding fee of $1,500.
  • Marketing costs more again: Marketing Hub Professional costs $800 to $890 a month with 3 seats and 2,000 marketing contacts. It adds a one-time $3,000 onboarding fee.
  • Enterprise is for large teams: Sales Hub Enterprise costs $150 per seat per month with a $3,500 onboarding fee. Marketing Hub Enterprise costs $3,600 a month with a $7,000 onboarding fee.

Many teams need one or two Professional features, such as sales sequences or forecasting. Sales sequences are automatic follow-up emails. For a 10-person sales team, Professional at $90 a seat comes to $900 a month plus the onboarding fee. That is when owners start to compare.

What are the best HubSpot alternatives?

Each tool below is strong at something different. Each price is the cheapest paid plan that vendor lists.

Blur Studio (best value)

A ready-built, well-tested core with a different pricing model: no per-seat fees, and it covers almost all the features you'd actually need, usually working out to the best value for money. On top of that, Blur Studio builds owned customizations, meaning you can ask for it to be modified to your exact specifications, and you own those modifications outright. Pipedrive

Pipedrive is a sales CRM built around a visual pipeline. You drag each deal from stage to stage. Plans cost $14 per seat per month for Lite, $39 for Growth, $59 for Premium and $79 for Ultimate, billed yearly. Email sync and automated follow-ups start on Growth. Pro Suite costs $100 per user per month, billed yearly, and adds quoting and forecasting. Larger editions run from $195 to $550 per user per month.

GoHighLevel

HighLevel, often called GoHighLevel, is built for marketing agencies that run many client accounts. Starter costs $97 a month or $970 a year, with 3 sub-accounts. Phone calls, texts, email and AI features carry extra usage fees.

  • Best for: Agencies that want one flat fee for many client accounts, with funnels, texting and booking in one place.

HubSpot vs GoHighLevel: which should you choose?

These two price in very different ways. HubSpot charges per seat. GoHighLevel charges a flat monthly fee with unlimited users, then adds usage fees for calls, texts, email and AI.

  • Choose HubSpot if: You are one business with a sales team, and you want a CRM with reports and sequences, plus hubs for marketing and service.
  • Choose GoHighLevel if: You are an agency, or a business with many staff who all need logins. The flat fee stays the same as your team grows. Budget for the usage fees on top.

What about a Pipedrive alternative or Salesforce alternative?

Pipedrive focuses on the sales pipeline. If you want email marketing, sales and support to share one set of contact records, look at HubSpot or GoHighLevel. If Salesforce has more than your small team needs, Pipedrive, Freshsales and HubSpot Starter all cost less per seat.

For a full side by side of HubSpot and Salesforce, see the HubSpot vs Salesforce guide, which also covers Pipedrive.

When does a custom CRM make more sense?

Most small businesses should buy a CRM. A good one costs less than building, and it is ready today. A custom CRM is worth a look in a few cases.

  • Your process does not fit a pipeline: For example, a home builder tracks permits, inspections and change orders for each job. A sales pipeline does not show that well.
  • Seat fees keep growing: You have 30 or 40 users, and the yearly seat bill now costs more than a system you would own.
  • Your tools do not talk to each other: Your quotes, jobs, invoices and texts live in four places, and staff copy data by hand.
  • You must control the data: Your clients or your industry need you to know exactly where customer data lives.

Often the best step is smaller than a full rebuild. You can keep HubSpot and connect it to your other systems, or add an AI sales agent that follows up on new leads. My guide to CRMs for small business covers the custom route in more depth.

How does Blur Studio help teams choose a CRM?

I start with your sales process, step by step. Where do leads come from? What happens after the first call? Where does data get typed in twice?

If a ready-made CRM fits, I will tell you which one and help you set it up. If it does not, I build a CRM around your process, or connect your current CRM to the tools it is missing. Your business owns the CRM and every login, and I can keep looking after it once it is live.

Need something completely custom?

Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask

What is the cheapest HubSpot alternative?

Freshsales starts at $9 per user per month on a yearly plan, as of October 2026. Salesforce also has a Free Suite. HubSpot's own free plan covers 2 users, so check whether it is enough before you switch.

Is GoHighLevel better than HubSpot?

It depends on who you are. GoHighLevel suits agencies and teams with many users because it charges a flat fee from $97 a month, as of October 2026. HubSpot suits a single business that wants a per-seat CRM with strong sales and reporting tools.

Why is HubSpot so expensive?

HubSpot's Starter plans are low cost, but Professional plans cost much more. As of October 2026, Sales Hub Professional costs $90 to $100 per seat per month, plus a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee.

Can I move my data from HubSpot to another CRM?

Most CRMs can import contacts, companies and deals from CSV files or through a migration partner. Notes, emails and automations often need extra work, so ask the new vendor what they move for you.

When should I build my own CRM?

Build one when your process does not fit a standard pipeline, when seat fees keep climbing, or when your tools cannot share data. For a small team with a simple sales process, buying a CRM is the better choice.

Roughly what does this cost?

As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.

Is my project too small for this?

No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
