Service Autopilot alternatives: software for lawn, cleaning and route-based businesses

By Ranjit Bhinge, founder of Blur Studio · Updated · 6 min read

Short answer: The main Service Autopilot alternatives for recurring service businesses are GorillaDesk and Jobber for lawn, pest and general route work, Service Fusion for larger crews that want one flat fee, and ZenMaid specifically for maid and cleaning services. Service Autopilot's own pricing runs Startup at $49, Pro at $199 and Pro Plus at $499 a month as of October 2026, with Elite by quote and an undisclosed sign-up fee on every tier. The real risk in switching isn't the monthly price, it's years of customer and service history that Service Autopilot's export feature is turned off by default to protect, so plan the data move before you plan the switch.

You run a lawn care, cleaning, pest or other recurring-route business on Service Autopilot and you're weighing whether another platform is actually cheaper or better fit, and how to get years of customer history out safely if you do move.

I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.

How much does Service Autopilot cost?

Service Autopilot's pricing page lists four plans, billed at annual rates, plus a sign-up fee whose amount it doesn't publish.

PlanPrice a monthMobile licensesBusiness users
Startup$4911
Pro$19921
Pro Plus$49951

Custom reports and route optimization sit on Pro and above, so Startup users who need either have to move up a tier. Mobile licenses, not business users, are what scales with crew size: Startup includes just one, which usually means a one-person operation outgrows it fast. Several features, including Smart Maps, the client portal, QuickBooks integration and FleetSharp GPS, are marked "call for pricing" rather than listed with a dollar figure, so get the full add-on total in writing before you compare against anything else on this page.

Blur Studio (best value)

A ready-built, well-tested core with a different pricing model: no per-seat fees, and it covers almost all the features you'd actually need, usually working out to the best value for money. On top of that, Blur Studio builds owned customizations, meaning you can ask for it to be modified to your exact specifications, and you own those modifications outright. • Best for: Businesses that need software that works without barriers, no unnecessary fees and options to customize it to their needs.

GorillaDesk

GorillaDesk bills by plan plus routes rather than by seat: Basic is $49 a month, Pro is $99, and Growth is $149. Admin, manager, sales and crew users are unlimited on every plan, and only a user running their own schedule needs a paid route, with extra routes costing $30 to $50 a month depending on plan and route count. Basic routing is capped at 25 stops; Pro adds real-time Drive Matrix routing, a customer portal, online booking and QuickBooks Online sync. Its customer base leans heavily pest control, lawn and pool work, which maps closely to Service Autopilot's own core market. For pest firms, see pest control software, and for routing alone, Route4Me alternatives.

Jobber

Jobber's Core plan runs $21 a month for the first 12 months on annual billing, then $29, for one user, with $29 for each extra user. Connect adds automated reminders and QuickBooks Online sync; Grow adds job costing. See my Jobber alternative guide for the fuller breakdown.

Service Fusion

Service Fusion charges the same flat fee regardless of user count: Starter is $208 a month, Plus at $325 adds job costing and inventory, and Pro at $533 adds the customer web portal, recurring invoicing and open API access. Service Autopilot's own comparison page claims its route tools and support beat Service Fusion's, which is a vendor claim worth testing with your own stops in a demo rather than taking at face value.

Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro's Max plan runs $299 a month (annual) for 8 users and adds recurring service plans, route optimization and open API access. Essentials at $149 includes routes and QuickBooks Online sync at five users.

ZenMaid

ZenMaid is built specifically for maid and cleaning services, and prices by appointment volume rather than by cleaner. Starter is $19 a month for up to 40 appointments. Pro at $39 gives unlimited appointments, digital checklists, GPS tracking, reports and payroll. Pro Max at $49 adds data export, Mailchimp and Zapier integrations. Pro and Pro Max both include a free transfer of your contacts and calendar when you switch.

How do I move years of customer data?

Customer and job history is usually what keeps an owner stuck in the wrong tool longer than they should be. Plan the move in this order.

  1. Turn on exports. Service Autopilot's own help article says its export feature is turned off by default. Ask support to turn it on for your account before you do anything else.
  2. Export everything you can. That includes client lists, client locations, subcontractor schedules, and invoices and financial numbers for your accountant. Open every file in Excel or Google Sheets to check it before you trust it.
  3. Ask what the new vendor imports automatically. GorillaDesk's data migration is free and covers contact information, addresses, notes and starting balances, but leaves out full service history. ZenMaid's Pro and Pro Max plans include a transfer of contacts and calendar.
  4. Keep your own history file regardless. Store old invoices, service notes and photos in a folder or spreadsheet you control, since most new tools won't import them.
  5. Check recurring schedules by hand. After import, compare the first four weeks of routes against your old system before you retire anything.
  6. Run both tools for a month. Move one crew first, then the rest, rather than cutting over all at once.

If you'll genuinely lose service history in the move, a developer can load the old records into a simple lookup page so staff can still search them without needing the old system kept alive.

Should I switch, or add to what I have?

Sometimes the gap isn't the whole tool. If routing and invoicing work and you only lack a report, a portal or invoice follow-up, adding a layer usually costs less than moving years of data. Typical gaps I see on recurring-service tools like this:

  • Route profit report: Revenue and drive time per route, per crew and per customer.
  • Renewal and churn view: Which customers skipped a visit, paused, or left entirely.
  • Customer portal: Visit history, invoices and photos in one place for the customer to check themselves.
  • Invoice chasing: Automated reminders for late payments, sent by text or email.

I build these for field service and recurring-route businesses, reading data from whatever tool you already use through its API or exports. If you're leaving because of cost or genuine fit, the alternatives above are real options. If you're leaving because of one missing report, ask me first. My landscaping software guide and field service software guide cover the wider choices.

How does Blur Studio approach field service software?

I talk with owners at both ends of this choice: some are on Service Autopilot and want something cheaper or simpler, others are on an entry-level app and want Service Autopilot's route and automation features without the per-license jump. In both cases I start with the list of things that actually hurt. If it's a report or a link to another tool, I build it around what you already have. If it's a core feature, such as recurring billing logic a ready-made tool genuinely can't model, I'll say so and point you to the platform that has it. You keep the code and every account in your name either way.

Need something completely custom?

Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask

What is the best alternative to Service Autopilot?

It depends on your trade. GorillaDesk and Jobber suit lawn and pest crews, Service Fusion suits larger crews that want a flat fee, and ZenMaid suits maid and cleaning services specifically. Price each one at your real crew size and appointment volume before deciding.

How much does Service Autopilot cost per month?

Its pricing page lists Startup at $49, Pro at $199 and Pro Plus at $499 a month as of October 2026, with Elite by quote. A sign-up fee applies on every plan and its amount isn't published.

Can I export my data from Service Autopilot?

Yes, but the export feature is turned off by default according to Service Autopilot's own help documentation. Ask support to turn it on, then export client lists, locations, subcontractor schedules and invoices before you commit to anything else.

Does Service Autopilot have a free trial?

Its pricing page shows a free trial button, but doesn't state the length anywhere public. Ask directly when you request access.

Which Service Autopilot alternative has unlimited users?

Service Fusion has unlimited users on every plan for one flat fee. GorillaDesk has unlimited admin, manager, sales and crew users, charging only for routes assigned to a schedule.

Roughly what does this cost?

As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.

Is my project too small for this?

No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
