Pest control software: scheduling, routes and chemical records in one system
Short answer: Pest control software books recurring services, builds daily routes, records every product applied and bills customers on a schedule. As of October 2026, GorillaDesk starts at $49 a month for one route with free users, while FieldRoutes and PestPac give prices only through sales. Check that the software keeps the chemical use records your state requires. A custom build fits operators with unusual commercial contracts or many tools that do not connect.
You're running pest control routes on a tool that does not properly track chemical applications or renewals, and you want to know what actually handles both.
I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.
What should pest control software do?
General job software books a visit and sends a bill. Pest control adds recurring routes and strict product records.
- Recurring service: Monthly, quarterly and yearly plans book themselves, with the right service type on each visit.
- Route building: The software groups stops by area and orders them to cut drive time.
- Chemical use records: Each stop records the product, amount, target pest and applicator.
- Devices and bait stations: Techs scan a barcode on each trap or station and log what they found.
- Termite and inspection reports: Techs fill in inspection forms with photos on a phone.
- Commercial accounts: Restaurants, warehouses and property managers need service reports and trend data for audits.
- Recurring billing: Cards on file get charged after each visit or on a set date.
- Sales tools: Door-to-door and phone reps sign up new customers from a phone.
What records do pest control companies have to keep?
States run pesticide rules for pest control companies. The EPA says all 50 states run certification programs for applicators of restricted use pesticides. The federal rule says commercial applicators must recertify at least every 5 years.
Each state sets its own record rules, and your software must capture them. Texas is a good example. Its rule says pest control use records must include these items:
- Customer: The billing name and address.
- Products: Pesticide names and EPA registration numbers.
- Amounts: The total amount applied, or the mix rate and total for mixed products.
- Site: The service address.
- Target pest: The pest or purpose for the treatment.
- Devices: Any pest control devices used and how many.
- People: The name and license number of each person who applied, trained or supervised, plus the business license number.
- Date: The date of the treatment.
Texas requires these records to be kept at the business for two years and shown to the state on request. Ask each vendor to print a sample record for your state, then compare it line by line with your state's rule.
What are the main pest control software products and what do they cost?
Every price and feature below is from the vendor's own website as of October 2026. Prices change, so confirm before you buy.
GorillaDesk
GorillaDesk prices by route, meaning one tech's schedule. Admin, manager, sales and crew users are free on every plan.
- Basic: $49 a month for one route. It includes material tracking for chemical use records. Routing is limited to 25 stops.
- Pro: $99 a month for one route. It adds stronger routing, barcode tracking for traps and devices, and tools for apartment complexes.
- Growth: $149 a month for one route. It adds drive time routing and tools that fit new jobs into existing routes.
Extra routes cost $30 to $100 a month each, depending on the plan. Yearly billing is paid up front, and the page offers one month free on yearly plans. GorillaDesk offers a 14-day free trial of Growth, with no setup fees or contracts. Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time.
FieldRoutes
FieldRoutes has Growth and Corporate plans. Neither shows a price. The page says your monthly price depends on your number of active customers. Both plans list route optimization, a tech app, mobile sales tools, lead management, a customer payment portal, commercial trend reports and an API.
PestPac
PestPac is WorkWave's pest control software. It covers scheduling and routing, a CRM, termite inspections, chemical tracking, custom forms, a customer portal and reporting. Its home page shows no prices, so you need to book a demo for a quote.
Jobber
Some small pest companies use general home service software. Jobber's Core plan costs $49 a month on monthly billing, or $29 a month on a prepaid yearly plan, for one user. You pay $29 a month for each added user. Jobber is built for many trades, so check that it can capture your state's chemical records before you choose it.
| Product | Price shown (Oct 2026) | Pricing basis | Pest features |
|---|---|---|---|
| GorillaDesk | From $49 a month | Per route, free users | Chemical tracking, device barcodes on Pro |
| FieldRoutes | Quote only | Active customers | Route optimization, mobile sales |
| PestPac | Quote only | Not listed | Termite inspections, chemical tracking |
| Jobber | $49 a month, or $29 prepaid yearly | Per user | General trade tool, check chemical records |
What should a pest control company test before buying?
Bring a real route and a real commercial account to the demo. These tests show most gaps.
- A full day's route: Load 20 real stops and see how the software orders them. Compare the drive time with your current day.
- A chemical record: Log a mixed product at one stop and print the record. Check it against your state's rule.
- A recurring plan: Set up a quarterly plan with an interior visit first and exterior visits after. See if each visit books with the right service.
- A commercial account: Scan a few bait stations, note activity and print the service report your client's auditor will read.
- Billing after service: Check that the card charges when the tech completes the stop.
- Cost at your size: GorillaDesk prices by route and FieldRoutes by active customers, so price both at your size today and next year.
- Moving your data: Ask who moves your customers, plans and past chemical records, and what it costs.
Which AI features help pest control companies?
Pest work creates a lot of small records. AI saves the most time when it fills those records in or keeps customers from cancelling.
Voice notes that become service records
A tech finishes a stop and says what they applied, where and why. AI turns the note into the product, amount, target pest and notes fields. The tech confirms the record before leaving. This cuts typing and makes records more complete.
Pest photos sorted before the visit
A customer texts a photo of a bug. AI suggests what the pest is likely to be and which service fits. A trained person confirms it before quoting. The customer gets a faster answer, and the right tech shows up with the right products.
Cancellation warnings
Recurring customers often cancel after a missed visit or a callback. AI can scan your service history and flag accounts that look at risk, such as repeat callbacks or skipped visits. Your office can call those customers first. An AI scheduling assistant can also handle reschedules so fewer visits get missed.
When does custom pest control software make sense?
Most pest companies should buy a product built for the trade. GorillaDesk, FieldRoutes and PestPac already handle routes, recurring plans and chemical records. A residential pest company with standard plans should start with trials and demos. If Service Autopilot is on your list, its alternatives guide compares the field.
Custom pest software is worth a look in these cases.
- Large commercial contracts: Your food plants, hospitals or warehouses need custom audit reports, site maps or client portals.
- Mixed services: You run pest, lawn, termite and wildlife work with different rules, and one product does not handle them all well.
- Many tools that do not connect: Sales, routing, billing and accounting live in separate systems, and staff retype data.
- Fees at scale: Per-route or per-customer pricing grows into a large yearly bill.
- Your own data: You want years of treatment and trend data in your own database.
You can also keep your current software and add custom parts around it, such as a client portal or an AI record helper. My field service management software guide compares general trade tools if you want a wider view.
What mistakes do pest control companies make with this software?
- Chemical application records logged late or incomplete. A record filled in back at the office at the end of the day, instead of at the stop, is a real compliance risk if it is ever audited. Log it at the point of treatment.
- Routes built around technician habit rather than actual drive time. An unoptimized route can cost a tech more time driving between stops than treating them. Review routes against real drive-time data, not just technician preference.
- Renewal contracts tracked loosely or not at all. Recurring pest control customers who simply forget to renew are one of the most avoidable sources of lost revenue in this business. A system that proactively flags and chases renewals closes that gap.
How would Blur Studio approach a pest control software build?
I would start with one route day and one commercial account. I would follow each stop from booking to the chemical record to the paid invoice, and mark where techs or staff lose time. If a pest product closes those gaps, I would tell you which one to try first. When a product cannot, I build the missing parts. That could be a commercial client portal, a voice-to-record tool for techs or a full system for a mixed service company. You own what I build, including the code and accounts, and I keep it working after launch.
Questions people ask
What is the best pest control software for a small business?
GorillaDesk, FieldRoutes and PestPac are built for pest control. GorillaDesk publishes prices from $49 a month for one route as of October 2026, while FieldRoutes and PestPac price through sales. Test a real route and a chemical record before you choose.
How much does pest control software cost?
As of October 2026, GorillaDesk costs $49, $99 or $149 a month for one route, with free users. FieldRoutes prices by your number of active customers, and PestPac gives prices through a demo.
What is a pest control CRM?
A pest control CRM stores each customer's address, service plan, treatment history and billing. Most pest control software includes the CRM along with scheduling, routing and chemical records.
Does pest control software track chemical use?
Pest products such as GorillaDesk, FieldRoutes and PestPac include chemical or material tracking. Check that the records match your state's rule, such as the Texas rule that lists product names, EPA registration numbers, amounts and applicator license numbers.
When should a pest control company build custom software?
Build when large commercial contracts, mixed services or many disconnected tools do not fit standard products. For residential recurring service, buying a pest control product is cheaper and faster.
Does pest control software handle both residential and commercial chemical records the same way?
The underlying record-keeping requirement is similar, but commercial accounts, especially food service and healthcare, often need more detailed documentation and faster turnaround on reports. Check this specifically before you commit to a tool.
Roughly what does this cost?
As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.
Is my business too small for this?
No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
