Housecall Pro alternatives: field service management software, side by side
Short answer: The main Housecall Pro alternatives are Jobber for small crews that want a simple app, Service Fusion for teams that want one flat fee regardless of headcount, ServiceM8 for the smallest teams that want to start free, RazorSync and GorillaDesk for teams that want set reporting or route tools at a fixed seat count, and ServiceTitan for large HVAC and plumbing shops. Housecall Pro's Max plan runs $299 a month for 8 users as of October 2026, plus $35 a month per extra user, so a 10-person crew pays $369 a month on that plan alone, which is usually what starts the search for an alternative.
You run your crew on Housecall Pro and want to know whether the plan you're on, or the one you're about to get pushed onto, is actually the best deal for your headcount, or whether another platform fits better.
I'm Ranjit, and I run Blur Studio: 15+ years building software, 120 apps taken live, and clients who have gone on to raise $10M+. I build AI systems and processes that help businesses do a lot more with a lot less time. I also work differently from most of what else is out there, more on that further down this page. Say hello.
Why do owners look for a Housecall Pro alternative?
Housecall Pro's pricing page lists three plans as of October 2026. Basic runs $59 a month billed yearly, or $79 month to month, for one user. Essentials runs $149 yearly, or $189 monthly, for up to five users. Max runs $299 yearly, or $329 monthly, for eight users, with each extra user at $35 a month. The site also runs short-term promotional pricing, so check what you pay once any offer period ends.
A few features sit behind specific plans, which is usually what pushes someone to compare alternatives:
- Routes and route optimization: Routes are on Essentials and above. Full route optimization is listed on Max only. For a dedicated planner, see Route4Me alternatives for service crews.
- QuickBooks Online sync: Essentials and above.
- Open API access: Max only, which matters if you want to build any custom report or integration.
- 24/7 call answering with CSR AI: sold as a separate add-on on top of any plan.
None of this is unusual for field service software, most platforms gate features by tier the same way. It does mean a growing crew can get pushed up a plan for one feature it actually needs. If that is your situation, compare the real monthly cost of the next Housecall Pro plan against the alternatives below before you commit to either one.
What are the best Housecall Pro alternatives?
| Platform | Starting price (Oct 2026) | Pricing model | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blur Studio | Get a quote. Highest value for money | One-time build, no per-seat fees | Businesses whose workflow has outgrown any ready-made plan |
| Jobber | $29 a month (Core, annual) | Plan fee plus $29 per extra user | Small crews that want a simple app to learn fast |
| Service Fusion | $208 a month (Starter, annual) | Flat rate, unlimited users | Growing crews where per-seat fees would add up |
| ServiceM8 | Free (1 user, 30 jobs/month) | Priced by job volume, not seats, once you pay | The smallest teams and solo operators |
| RazorSync | $85 a month (Solo, annual) | Set user tiers (2, 7 or 15 users) | Teams that want reporting and QuickBooks sync at a known seat count |
| GorillaDesk | $49 a month (Basic) | Plan fee plus a charge per route, not per user | Pest control, lawn and other recurring route work |
| ServiceTitan | Custom quote | Per technician, third-party estimate roughly $245 to $500+ | Large HVAC and plumbing shops with the revenue to absorb it |
Blur Studio (best value)
A ready-built, well-tested core with a different pricing model: no per-seat fees, and it covers almost all the features you'd actually need, usually working out to the best value for money. On top of that, Blur Studio builds owned customizations, meaning you can ask for it to be modified to your exact specifications, and you own those modifications outright. - Best for: Businesses that need software that works without barriers, no unnecessary fees and options to customize it to their needs.
Jobber
Jobber's Core plan is $29 a month on annual billing for one user (a new-customer promo showing $21 for the first 12 months ends 30 October 2026), with $29 a month for each extra user. Connect, at $99 a month (annual), adds automated reminders and QuickBooks Online sync. Grow, at $149 a month (annual), adds job costing. It also sells an AI Receptionist add-on at $29 a month. I compare the two platforms in detail in my Jobber vs Housecall Pro guide, and my Jobber alternative guide covers the reverse direction if you're coming from Jobber instead.
Service Fusion
Service Fusion lists Starter, Plus and Pro, each with unlimited users, at $208, $325 and $533 a month on annual billing. If your crew keeps growing, flat pricing protects you from the per-seat increases that Housecall Pro and Jobber both charge. Job costing sits on Plus and above, and open API access is Pro only.
ServiceM8
ServiceM8 prices by job volume rather than user count: free for one user and 30 jobs a month, then $29 to $349 a month as volume grows, with unlimited users on every paid tier. That makes it the cheapest realistic starting point for a solo operator or a very small crew, though it is a lighter tool than Housecall Pro once you need routes, recurring plans or deep reporting.
RazorSync
RazorSync's Solo plan covers up to 2 users, Team up to 7, and Pro up to 15, at $85, $195 and $439 a month on annual billing. Every plan includes a customer portal, time cards, estimating and invoicing, ad-hoc and management reports, and an API, where Housecall Pro keeps open API access on Max only. Route optimization is a $50 a month add-on on Solo and Team, and included on Pro.
GorillaDesk
GorillaDesk charges by route rather than by person: Basic is $49 a month, Pro is $99, and Growth is $149, with admin, manager, sales and crew users unlimited on every plan. Only a technician running their own schedule needs a paid route, and extra routes run $30 to $100 a month each depending on plan and route count. Pro adds the customer portal, online booking, QuickBooks Online sync and open API access. Its customer base leans pest control and other recurring-route trades. I cover this category in my pest control software guide.
ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan does not publish pricing and requires a demo and custom quote, priced per technician. Third-party trackers estimate roughly $245 to $500 per technician a month, plus an implementation fee they put at around $5,000 and up, rising steeply for larger shops (Projul reports $5,000 to $50,000). These are estimates, not ServiceTitan's figures. See my ServiceTitan vs Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan pricing guides, or my dedicated ServiceTitan alternative guide.
How do Housecall Pro alternatives compare for a 10-person crew?
| Platform | Plan | Math | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Housecall Pro | Max (8 users, annual) | $299 + 2 x $35 | $369 |
| Jobber | Connect (10 users, annual) | Team-size tier | $229 |
| Service Fusion | Starter (unlimited) | Flat | $208 |
| RazorSync | Pro (up to 15, annual) | Flat | $439 |
| ServiceTitan | Per technician | Roughly $245 to $500+ x 10 | $2,450 to $5,000+ |
GorillaDesk and ServiceM8 aren't in this table because both price by route or job volume rather than seat count, so their 10-person cost depends entirely on how many of those ten people run their own schedule or how many jobs the crew closes each month. Run your own numbers through their calculators directly rather than trusting a flat per-seat estimate. For the platforms above, Service Fusion's flat fee is the clear winner on raw cost once a crew grows past half a dozen people, and ServiceTitan only earns its much higher per-technician cost once your average job value can absorb it.
When does a custom field service tool make sense?
For most home service businesses, one of the platforms above is the right call, and I will tell you that directly if you ask. A custom build makes sense in a narrower set of cases.
- Your dispatch logic is genuinely unusual: Multi-crew jobs, specialty equipment tracking, or a service area with routing a standard platform does not model well.
- You want one system across several business lines: Field service plus a retail counter, a rental fleet or a manufacturing arm, all on one platform instead of several disconnected tools.
- Per-seat fees have outgrown their value: At a large enough headcount, a flat-cost owned system can cost less over a few years than an ongoing per-seat fee, even after accounting for the upfront build.
My guide to field service management software goes deeper on this decision, and my guides to plumbing software, HVAC CRM and electrical contractor software cover trade-specific considerations. Housecall Pro's own open API, available on the Max plan, is also worth checking before switching anything: reports can be saved and grouped, and customer and job lists export to CSV, which is often enough to build a profit-per-job view or a weekly owner summary without moving a single customer record.
How does Blur Studio approach field service software?
I start by understanding your actual dispatch and job workflow, how your crew is structured, what kind of jobs you run, and where Housecall Pro or any ready-made platform is genuinely falling short. If one of the platforms above fits, I will say so, including which one actually makes sense for your headcount. If your workflow is genuinely unusual, or your per-seat costs have grown past what makes sense, I build a system around how your crew actually works, connected to your accounting and scheduling tools. You keep the code and every account in your name, and I keep it running after launch.
Need something completely custom?
Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask
What is the closest alternative to Housecall Pro?
Jobber is the closest in size and price, and Service Fusion and RazorSync are close in features. All three cover scheduling, estimates, invoicing and payments.
Is there a free alternative to Housecall Pro?
ServiceM8 has a genuine free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month as of October 2026. Beyond that, most of the tools on this page sell paid plans with a free trial rather than a free tier.
Is ServiceTitan better than Housecall Pro?
ServiceTitan targets larger firms and does not publish prices, with third-party estimates of roughly $245 to $500 per technician a month. Housecall Pro publishes plan prices and is simpler to start with. The right pick depends on crew size and budget, not which one is objectively "better".
Which Housecall Pro alternative has the lowest cost per user?
Service Fusion and GorillaDesk both avoid per-user pricing: Service Fusion charges one flat fee for unlimited users, and GorillaDesk charges by route rather than by person. Which one is actually cheapest depends on your real headcount and how many people need their own schedule.
Can I move my data from Housecall Pro to another tool?
Yes. Admins can export customer and job lists as CSV files from the Customers and Jobs pages. Check with whichever vendor you're moving to exactly which fields it imports automatically, since the completeness varies by platform.
Roughly what does this cost?
As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.
Is my project too small for this?
No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
