Simpro alternatives: field service management software, side by side
Short answer: Simpro doesn't publish a price, so most owners comparing alternatives start with the tools that do: Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceM8 and Tradify for smaller crews, and FieldPulse, Ascora, AroFlo or ServiceTitan for mid-size and larger firms, several of which also sell by quote. As of October 2026, Simpro's own pricing page still lists only a Base Plan and a set of named add-ons, no dollar figures, and asks every buyer to request a custom quote based on team size and modules. Before you switch anything, check whether the gap is a missing report or link, which is usually a smaller fix than a full platform move.
You're evaluating Simpro, or already on it and weighing whether it's more platform than your trade business actually needs, and you want real prices to compare it against rather than another quote call.

Why do trade contractors look for Simpro alternatives?
The reasons usually come down to price and fit, and most of this comes straight from Simpro's own pages.
- No published price: Simpro's pricing page shows a Base Plan and a list of add-ons and asks you to request pricing. Its own materials say pricing is custom and depends on team size, workflows and add-ons, so you can't compare it to anything else without a sales call.
- Add-ons stack up: Digital Forms, Data Feed automation, Maintenance Planner, Takeoffs, Simtrac GPS tracking, SMS and VoIP are all separate add-ons on top of the Base Plan. Ask exactly which ones your quote assumes before you compare it to a competitor's all-in price.
- Training and setup costs aren't listed: Custom Training and Implementation appear as a support item with no cost shown anywhere public.
- Built for more than small jobs: Simpro's own comparison materials position it for service, maintenance, asset tracking and multi-phase commercial projects. If you run quick, single-visit jobs, you may be paying for depth you never use.
Owner reviews on review sites exist if you search for Simpro complaints, but treat each one as a single firm's experience. The better test is running a week of your real jobs through a trial of whatever you're considering instead.

Blur Studio (best value)
A ready-built, well-tested core with a different pricing model: no per-seat fees, and it covers almost all the features you'd actually need, usually working out to the best value for money. On top of that, Blur Studio builds owned customizations, meaning you can ask for it to be modified to your exact specifications, and you own those modifications outright. Learn more over a quick call with me, Ranjit.
- Best for: Businesses that need software that works without barriers, no unnecessary fees and options to customize it to their needs.
Jobber and Housecall Pro
Jobber's Core plan runs $21 a month for the first 12 months on annual billing, then $29, for one user, with $29 per extra user. Housecall Pro's Basic plan runs $59 a month (annual) for one user, rising to Max at $299 for eight users plus $35 per extra seat, with open API access on Max only. Both are lighter than Simpro on estimating depth and progress billing, but far simpler to price and start. See my Jobber alternative guide and Housecall Pro alternative guide for the fuller breakdowns.
ServiceM8 and Tradify
ServiceM8 has a genuine free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month, then paid tiers from $29 to $349 a month priced by job volume, with unlimited users on every paid plan. Tradify charges per user at $47, $51 or $61 a month depending on tier, and integrates directly with Xero and QuickBooks. Both suit small trade teams better than Simpro's commercial project depth.
Ascora and AroFlo
Ascora prices at $45 a user a month on Essentials, rising to $59 on Elite, which covers up to 30 technicians, with an Enterprise tier by quote beyond that. AroFlo prices from AUD $80 a user a month with a three-user minimum, and its per-user rate decreases as you add more licenses. Both are closer to Simpro in depth, Ascora for growing trade firms and AroFlo specifically for Australian and New Zealand firms running project-based work, and both publish real numbers where Simpro doesn't.
FieldPulse and ServiceTitan
Neither publishes pricing. FieldPulse moved to quote-only pricing, with contractor-reported estimates around $70 to $130 per user a month; a 10-person team has been reported at roughly $300 to $500 a month before add-ons like fleet tracking or AI features. ServiceTitan prices per technician, typically $245 to $500 or more a month, plus an implementation fee. Ask both for a written quote at your exact headcount with every add-on listed, the same way you'd have to with Simpro. See my dedicated ServiceTitan alternative guide.
What would I give up by leaving Simpro?
Check this list before you move, since a cheaper tool may genuinely lack one of these. This comes from Simpro's own product materials.
- Estimating: Pre-built assemblies and supplier pricing, with on-site quotes and digital signatures.
- Progress billing: Retention tracking and invoicing at job close, which most of the smaller tools above don't model at all.
- Reporting: Job profitability, work-in-progress tracking and budget monitoring.
- Supplier links: Accounting tools such as QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB and Sage, payments through Stripe, and trade suppliers such as ADI, Reece and Rexel.
- Built-in AI tools: A feature set called Lightning, including JustAsk for plain-language questions and JobScribe for voice notes taken on site.
If you use two or more of these every week, test the same task in each alternative before you decide. If you use none of them, you're probably paying for more depth than your business needs, and one of the published-price tools above is worth a real trial.
When does a custom field service tool make sense?
For most trade businesses, one of the platforms above is the right call, including simply staying on Simpro if progress billing or asset tracking genuinely need its depth. A custom build makes sense in narrower cases.
- Your estimating or billing logic is genuinely unusual: Multi-phase commercial work, retention schedules or supplier integrations a standard platform doesn't model well.
- You want one system across several business lines: Field service plus a retail counter, a rental fleet or a manufacturing arm, on one platform instead of several disconnected ones.
- Per-technician or per-seat fees have outgrown their value: At a large enough headcount, a flat-cost owned system can cost less over a few years than an ongoing per-seat fee.
My guides to field service management software, HVAC CRM and electrical contractor software go deeper on trade-specific considerations.
How does Blur Studio approach field service software?
I talk with owners at both ends of this choice: some are on Simpro and want a simpler, cheaper tool, others are on an entry-level app and want what Simpro offers without the quote-call pricing. In both cases I start with the list of things that actually hurt. If it's a report or a link to another tool, I build it around what you already have. If it's a core feature like progress billing or multi-phase estimating that a lighter tool genuinely can't do, I'll say so and point you to the platform that has it. You keep the code and every account in your name either way.
Need something completely custom?
Everything above is a path to get it running quick and cheap. But sometimes the honest answer is that none of those quite fit, and what you actually need is something custom that you own, built uniquely for your business from the ground up, with AI thoughtfully designed into the parts of it that your processes actually benefit from. An asset that grows in value, not a generic, one-size-fits-all boilerplate that's an expense with a lock-in. This is a complete bespoke build, and it's something I do very well. Questions people ask
What is the cheapest Simpro alternative?
ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user and 30 jobs a month, then paid plans from $29 a month with unlimited users. For firms that need more depth, Ascora starts at $45 a user a month, well below Simpro's quote-only pricing.
Does Simpro publish its price?
No, as of October 2026 its pricing page shows a Base Plan and a list of add-ons with no dollar figures, and asks every buyer to request a custom quote based on team size, workflows and modules.
What is a good Simpro alternative for HVAC?
Common options are ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and FieldPulse. ServiceTitan and FieldPulse both sell by quote, while Housecall Pro publishes prices from $59 to $299 a month on annual billing.
Can I keep Simpro and fix a reporting gap instead of switching?
Often yes. Simpro's own materials describe API access and accounting automation, and a developer can build custom reports directly off your jobs and invoices. Ask Simpro what access your specific plan includes.
Which alternative suits a firm with 20 staff?
Look at Ascora Elite, Housecall Pro Max, FieldPulse and ServiceTitan. Request written quotes for your exact headcount from each and compare the same feature list side by side rather than trusting a published starting price alone.
Roughly what does this cost?
As a broad reference, fixes and finishes start at around $1,500, and new builds start higher, always a fixed price agreed in writing before I start, never an hourly rate. My AI app cost guide explains what actually drives a quote up or down.
Is my project too small for this?
No. Most of the owners I work with have no tech team at all, that is the whole point. If the smarter move is a cheap software subscription instead of custom software, I will tell you that on the first call, even though it means I do not get paid.
